SVT 40 Slings - Leads?

...was told by int'l shipping dept at numrich that a sling is an accessory and therefore not under scrutiny, but that if i added an actual part to firearm they'd have to do paperwork and needed to tack on a $35 fee...good to keep in mind...
(BTW - when you order online the $35 fee is automatically tacked on but will be removed when billing goes through for an accessory)
This is a great thing to know. I will try and separate my orders from now on to just accessories and a separate order for just gun parts, with accessories needed at the time.

...and something i didn't mention
...when i went to purchase online the site refused me ...i tried three times ...so i phoned ...it seems that some browsers have a hard time interfacing with their system ...they readily accepted my information ...then after hanging up with them my CC fraud dept phoned ...i'm glad that someone watches for that, but it became a hassle ...but numrich phoned them to clear it all up and all for a 13$ purchase!!! ...really impressive service ...and the computer thing is anyone's guess and really not their fault since mine is a bit off-brand, not a problem for me, especially since i'd rather deal with a person than a computer program anyway

Slings that are listed at Numrich website are PPSH slings, typical postwar production.
Here how look original SVT sling. Currently there is no 100% correct information about them, but it looks that they were produced during very short period. They are extremely rare, saw only few Finn captured, almost all without rear dog collar
Most of SVT's during war were used with Mosin and PPSH slings (and vice versa - at wartime photos many SVt slings are observed at SMG's). It's not hard to find original wartime Mosin or PPSH sling, so it's the best choice

They put a 35.00 international fee on during all online purchases...It gets taken off before they bill your credit card. I ordered 3 slings last week, and they only charged $7ish for shipping after refunding the 35. You can call them to order it as well and they won't charge the $35 at all. The fee is only for firearm parts, not accessories.
I also had the problem where the Numrich website rejected my credit card. Eventually it worked when I just hit submit again.
Boy, I wish I knew they would have waived the $35 export fee. I ordered a few Mauser springs just to make it worthwhile and then the fee wasn't waived because those are firearm parts, doh.

Slings arrived today, which is kinda impressive since they only cleared customs at 8pm on the 22nd according to my tracking info. But on to the important stuff...
The SVT slings measure in at roughly 55 inches. So I guess that makes them actual SVT slings. This final product is below.
This black sling at the bottom was what I was using before. You can clearly see how horrendous it looked.

Also, they seem pretty dry, anybody know of anything to rub into/on or to soak the leather in to make sure it doesn't dry out completely and crack up?

...mine arrived yesterday ...nice sling ...oiled it up ...for $14 it beats the heck out of anything commercially available in any sporting store, that's for sure!

Really, after all the explanations you still call them "SVT-40 slings"? Why not call your SVT-40 "semi auto Mosin Nagant"? At least this name has historical background as Tokarev started his career working on MN semi-auto

PPSH slings were 51 inches long, whereas SVT-40 slings were 55 inches. The slings I received were 55 inches long, hence SVT slings. They could still be post war production.

Of course you can believe whatever you want, but it does not make post-war PPSH sling a SVT-40 sling. Just don't call it "SVT-40 sling" in public, pretty please? We're trying to be historically accurate with collecting milsurplus, aren't we?
