Looks like the .22LR shortage is hitting Canada pretty good now. Canada Ammo does not have any .22LR in stock.

I was thinking earlier about where I was going to get primers next. I realized Canada Ammo has the Dominion primers in stock.

Anyways could we get Dominion Arms .22LR? This seems like a great way to bypass the crazy American shortage issues.

I don't know what all this talk is about 22lr shortages?
I think it just some people being picky as to where they want to buy there ammo to save a few bucks.
I live in Calgary and there is sh!ttons of 22 everywhere.
No shortages here so maybe do some poking around on the net and just order yourself some 22.
Problem solved
Also I highly doubt you would want to shoot Chinese 22 anyways rem 22 is bad enough.

The shortage was there, however many big name stores started to get new shipments of 22 just in the last month or so. some places gets them faster then others.

Yeah I don't get it either, always seems to be 22 lr in and around the Ottawa area, and there is always a sponsor or two that has it in stock on here.

I think the shortage was legitimate in the USA and perhaps Canadians thought it was going to happen here. IMO it never did, and I believe, but I could be wrong, that the 22 shortage is over now in the USA as well.

People are creating the shortage. I would normal buy 200 Hun rounds. But every time i go in to buy 22lr they are sold out. So next time it's in I buy 500 Hun rounds so I don't have that issue. People are hoarding it.

CCI 22s are almost non existent in most places...the stores that has them in stock are selling them way above its regular price... people started to horde because they are afraid the other brands will end up the same which caused further scare among 22lr community.

ya those days were gone

I'd imagine it's still true. I could be wrong, but I haven't heard anything about there being an increase in production cost, just more about the demand being higher than what they can put out. With how finicky some of the .22LR are already, I can't imagine ammo from China being both cheap, and reliable. I'm sure it can be one or the other, but not both.

Yeah I agree. I am simply being picky for the most part. It was only around 1.5yrs ago when you could buy Federal 525 bricks for 20$ or even less. Now I have not been able to find them for under 27$. That's a pretty substantial increase. I have been looking everywhere online for .22LR and its getting expensive.

Don't get me wrong I can still buy .22LR easily. I can drop by my local UFA and pick up a brick of Wildcat for 33$ any day. It unfortunately is a sellers market right now. The simple fact is .22LR is way more expensive than it was. Now spending a day plinking has went from 20$ to 30$

If the Chinese can produce it for the cost the Americans can, I think it would be significantly cheaper.

if they can make it with the quality of the .223 and .45acp, it will be just fine. dirty but very nice ammo.

and, I suspect the "shortage" is a convenient way to raise the prices on .22lr. Its always been cheap to shoot, and people love to shoot it, and its still cheaper than anything else, so they figure if we want it, we will pay more. Similar costs, but more profit for them. So if someone can come in and prove that it can be sold cheaper, and keep it in the market, the rest will have to bring the price down too

Very true indeed

Chinese 22LR cannot be worse than Remington 22LR (well it could be, but they would have to try really hard to be worse).

Also, ain't no damned decent 22LR west of the rockies (I see 22shorts and subsonics from time to time, which means only my Badger gets out of the safe lately).

There may be some 22LR out there online, but once shipping is included, I usually say to hell with it and buy some target load locally to go shoot some trap ...
(and good target load is getting a bit scarce out here, too).

Not sure where you live in bc but the interior has plenty 22lr to go around half a dozen places within 45 minutes out here carry a variety. CCI are a bit more scarce I gobble it up every time I see it, lucked out with a brick of blazers a month ago and just found a local arms dealer carrying mini mags.

Must be a Northern Alberta shortage then, because there definitely isn't any in Grande Prairie either. Seriously considering getting some shipped up, but then I'd have to get out the KY.

We're still short down here in southern Alberta but it's slowly coming back. I was in Canadian Tire on Saturday and they had a good stock of CCI Velocitor (@ nearly $8 for 50 rounds), some Winchester 333 bulk, and a single 525 round bulk box of Federal.
