Glocks and practice.....

It's NY1 trigger actually and I've seen some petite ladies, who never held the pistol before, qualifying just fine on a dynamic course of fire with Glock 22. Heavy trigger, stress, speed and 40 S&W. Well, these ladies did just fine. Now, after reading this thread I just can't help, but wonder how they were able to accomplish all that? Answer is simple - they didn't f@$c around feeling sorry for themselves.

People that apply themselves to the task rather than slapping down their Visa to 'fix' what isn't broken are rewarded for their efforts you say? Crazy world we live in.

Yes indeed. It's fairly crazy concept to many individuals these days. Making an effort to accomplish a goal is too much for some. You can see this more and more as a social trend rather than an exception actually.

Hey, everyone deserves a participation award. We are all winners.

What a load of SH!t. The fear of being a loser is what drives us to be better, to be winners. Now its a society of lazy unmotivated self absorbed whiners.

I keep shooting left and high with my Glock. Nothing I change seems to work, any suggestions?

If you don't know what you're doing wrong, there's no point in changing anything as you won't know what you're doing right. Go take a class/course, you can't self diagnose when you don't know what you don't know. In addition, a video is not a class/course so forget youtube and magpul videos. They discuss the mechanics but do nothing to diagnose and correct your errors.

Secondly, I don't shoot groups as I am not interested in what I can achieve with slow deliberate fire at a stationary target.

I very much disagree with this line of thinking. All things considered, fundamental accuracy is extremely important. If you can't score at least a 45/50 on a dot torture target at 3 yards and at least a 90 at 25 yards on a B8, IMO, one should work only work on accuracy before they add speed.

Good luck hitting low % targets at speed if you can't hit low % targets in slow fire.

I don't need luck, I'm quite capable.

Nowhere did I say that applying the fundamentals consistently and on demand was a speed only activity. I agree with you that a person needs to shoot well at a reasonable pace before stepping on the gas. My point is that being able to only shoot slow fire tiny groups is far from the pinnacle of fundamental marksmanship. The goal(atleast it should be) is to apply the fundamentals at speed at all ranges(25 and under generally) on demand with predictable consistent results. Tiny slow fire groups are a skill building exercise for poor or lacking fundamentals, they are useless for competition or defensive work. There is a blend of speed and accuracy when doing either of the above, and there are times where speed is more important than accuracy and vise versa.

I know I flinch and I'm working on it. I feel my trigger pull is the issue and it needs more work.
Is there any truth to the saying "if you can shoot a Glock you can shoot anything?"
And what's a dot torture target and a B8?

Glock triggers are unforgiving like any DA trigger. It forces you to do it right or get it wrong. Look up dot torture or dot drill online or at pistol training.com.

If you can shoot a Glock, you can shoot other easy pistols. Glocks are pretty low on the hard-to-shoot spectrum.

If you can shoot an early Charter Arms in DA fast, you can shoot anything. Or a bad DAO Smith. Or early production DAK SIG.

Glocks are pretty easy, they're just not DEAD easy like some guns.

I have been slacking off this entire year but I can generally knock out a perfect Dot Torture at 7 yards with a Glock. I would like to give it a go at 10 or maybe 15...that would be work.

Once again, I got some excellent suggestions from this forum!!
I never heard of the dot torture drill until now.
I'm looking forward to trying it the next time I'm at the range.
