NAM Style M-16

Is this oil on the upper/lower or just uneven finish ?

I think that's the bright sun on the oil. I tried to take another picture to show the finish. It's rough but not uneven.

The stock, grip and trigger guard installed easily. The handguard was tight but I got it installed with a little work.

Did you have to trim the handguard to fit? I was looking at one of these and wanted to set it up just like that but was concerned how the magpul furniture would fit but now that you've got it on there I'm itching to pull the trigger and buy one...not that I really have space for another one but who can resist it at the price they're going for

No trimming involved but I had to get my 16 year old son to help force the delta ring down while I was forcing the handguard up. It's on there pretty tight so I would not want to take it off too often.

Trying to switch to A1 handguards, but can't get the two front sight pins out for the life of me!

They are tapered pins and they're in there tight! You need to make sure you're knocking them out from the correct side. You'd want to use a drift punch (not a pin punch or you'll just ruin them) and a heavy hammer.

Thanks Trinimon, I will pick up a different punch and see what I can do. Small end of the pin was on the left side of the rifle.

And don't be afraid to give her a smack. Those taper pins are really in there sometimes and require a pretty hefty hammer blow to get em loose
