Anyone had a 1911 custom built by Dlask?
I was curious as to how many options you get to chose from, from finish, to triggers, slide cuts, barrels etc...
And what kind of price and time frame they came up with?
I saw some very cool custom builds on SVI site, I have heard they are backlogged quite a bit.

Didn't really get into that with Joe, as I recall I asked him to build me a gun to the same spec that a friend got from him so, we never really had a sit down to discuss what other options were available although I know they do exist.

Yeah i'm just feeling information for the moment, i hate tire kickin', and calling Joe without the seriousness of funds set aside if all seems good would be exactly that, tire kickin'

I like your attitude and outlook. that is all. Being serious.

But...maybe Joe wouldn't mind a 5 minute chat even if you started with the phrase. "I don't have the money in place right now, but I'm working diligently on it so when I do can you..................."

Who knows, maybe it will be a 'mind bottling' idea and he will build it instantly and it will be sitting there with your name on it waiting for you to pay. Maybe he finance it? Maybe its so awesome that he designs it as a new dlask build and calls it the MK2500.

IT COULD HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!! But...seriously, awesome attitude not wanting to waste a business mans time without the funds....seriously....that's awesome.

the only guy that I would get to build me a custom 1911 in Canada is Joe dlask..... been a loyal customer for near 20 years and have always been treated like my business mattered, even for a 50.00 item, stopping by unannounced on a Saturday :D (which you probably shouldn't do LOL)

H.K.Glock, i am a self employed plumber, contractor to be specific.
I give free estimates. Sometimes clients get a few tradesmen in to get estimates, we all spend 1-2hours of our time that specific morning. But the client made the decision of getting trades to give quotes before even applying for financing. His financing is not approved, he wasted 1-2 hours of each tradesman time that morning, when he calls back and is serious 3/4 years later, we are too busy and have more pressing jobs. I don't want to be that client.
I agree with calling Joe and being upfront with him like you mentionned, once i have let's say 1k-1.5k set aside, at least a down payment will show some commitment and have things started. I can image having a 2 hours conversation on a quote for a custom 1911, so many options, just play around with SVIs gunbuilder and the small details are endless! Hey you also got me thinking on something, i could probably get the chance on a customized serial! That would be really cool.

45ACPKING - i am next to Ottawa, too far from Joe to drop in and shop in person lol ;)
If ever i travel to BC, i must visit Dlask and Murray Gardner, i have an IPSC friend that has moved to BC also.
Seems like i'll have to make it someday!

This thread needs pictures, common guys show us your DA 1911's! From stock to all decked out!

I had Joe build a open class .38 super on an STI platform. He can do any of the options you can think of. I just gave him some rough sketches of the shape and size of compensator, slide cuts etc and he created a masterpiece that completely blew me away. Too bad I never got the hang of shooting with a c-more and I sold it. I would truly love to have it back. The cost was more than what I would call reasonable.

i saw that gold 1911 that Joe build for that politician across the pond and i had to call him one day to find out what it cost'd.
i told him upfront i wanted to know the price because i was thinking about squirreling away money to buy one because i LOOOOOVE the looks of it.
he told me the price, i told him not to wait up for me, haha!
still a gorgeous gun!

How much did it cost? (Pm is ok too)
Since have been looking at Dlasks website i am always eyeballin' that 1911 even tough its not ipsc legal (looks like a ppc gun)

Mustangfrank, thanks for your input on this!

You're welcome. It was so long ago the price would not be relevant today. Besides, I have no idea now. I don't even have a good picture as that was pre digital. Cheers.
