A good question to ask yourself is do you plan to put a scope with qd rings? If not then you don't loose anything with lsp! Cause what's the point of keeping your irons if you have a non feild removable scope set-up? I feel both are to much rail for my need I prefer the casm gen 2 but I will say the lsp looks amazing! Plus it's Canadian made and frank will give you great service!

Edit: another difference, the vltor is free flot from the op rod guide forward while the lsp is attached to the barrel at the front. Does it matter for accuracy? Time will tel, I would guess not but I don't know much about that stuff.

Frank I have a good question for you, in your net gain calculations could you include for kicks remouving the stripper clip guide with the lsp see how much total weight difference? As I see it the guide is 100% pointless? No? And with the other system you need the guide plus 99% of people will keep the rear site; while your at it might as well remouve the front site as well and trow that in the equation cause what's the front site worth wen you dont have a rear!

How about measuring balance? 2 scales re-zeroed with shooting bags on one scale up front and one back. Would be neat to see stock m14 vs m14 with lsp with out front site and stripper clip guide?

If memory serves, the stripper clip guide weighs exactly 1oz., therefore, you could remove 1oz. from the net weight gain totals I gave earlier from both upper hand guard/scope mount assemblies mentioned. Thanks for this post. It reminds me to update our "M14 Weights in Pictures" thread.

Edit: it took a few minutes, but I found the stripper clip guide. Here is the actual weight. Note that this posting is for an accurate weight count, not much else. :) Cheers!

I see a flat top design now giving use of a BUIS and cowitness optics availability. Neat, might have to give the LSP a try.
