The Modern Hunter Rifle UPDATED December 10 2015

So technically I could get one anodized to the tartan of clan Maclean?

You can get it coated in a single colour at a time ;)

The actual layer of Aluminum Oxide is a few dozen microns thick, and all the dye is in that layer, but Aluminum Oxide is only surpassed by diamonds in hardness for a naturally occurring element. (all aluminum has a molecule or two thick layer of it, but Type-3 anodizing artificially grows the layer thicker)

Im curious what our brothers south will think of the new rifle its new, exciting and unique. Not just your plain old ar15 to me its kind of like an ar and fal had a baby

Technically couldn't a Canadian bring theirs down for competition?

Technically it might be possible. I have a Form 6 that allows me to take my 16.5" AT15 into the USA for shoots, but we can not export them on a permanent basis to the USA as our version of the AR15 is classified as a "weapon of war" by the State Dept. Talk about protectionism.

I know the us ar market is over saturated but that's just retarded .

I think I'll wait for the first bunch of production runs to knock the price down. When this thing comes in at around the $2500 mark it'll be viable.

I would not hold your breath. The only way these will get cheaper is if we outsource to China, which we won"t do!
Given that these are a Canadian specific firearm the market is small. IF there was any appeal in other countries where AR10s are not restricted the volume of production might change and the price could come down, but it all comes down to the volume.

Do you find balance wise there are certain stocks you would recommend for the different barrel profiles? Just don't want something too butt or barrel heavy

Yes Using a CTR with a 24" bull barrel makes a very front heavy rig. Not so bad with the PRS and a bull. Balance is almost neutral. With the Varmint contour and PRS it is very slightly butt heavy.
Interestingly and frankly rather surprising to us is how many guys have gone with the CFW barrels. We figured a few would opt for them but over 50% have gone CFW barrel. With a CTR and a CFW barrel balance is great, with a PRS it is rear heavy, which I believe is nice as it makes standing shots easy to make.

Any word on the DD rail??? Again according to the website it should fit the standard DPMS upper, not the new low profile ones

Don't know for certain if these will fit but we very seriously doubt they will due to DD's proprietary attachment system. Unless we buy 1 and try it we will not know for certain but to spend a bunch of money just to see that we are correct holds little appeal.
