I have narrowed it down to these 3 in this order (5.56/223)
#1 Schmeisser
#2 DD DDM4V3
#3 Barrett REC7
adding #4 KAC

From what I have read so far, all 4 are great. Looking for something that will last me a while (don't want to have to 'upgrade' in a few years), won't loose on value down the road. I tend to keep mine for a while. Any cons for any of the above? Thanks

Schmeisser ? Never heard of them, how long have they been building AR's(?) where are they made and what's the warranty? If you want a premium AR, you pretty much have to at least consider KAC and LMT

Why I suggest against KAC (not that I'm a hater), if the BCG ever has a problem you are screwed. The BCG extractor? The part that looks like a gear at the very end of the BCG is different from standard BCGs that AR's a majority of the companies out there have. However I haven't heard of anyone breaking the BCG of the KAC or ever seen one breaking.

LMT is an excellent choice but for the price of your 3 guns you picked from, the Schmeisser is very interesting and I'm sure that when you are behind the trigger, will you notice any difference when you walk down range to see the groupings? I personally would suggest looking at a Colt AR from Irunguns seeing that they are a good price and save money on a better trigger, optics and ammunition.

Don't get me wrong, DD and Barrett are probably just as good or no noticable difference.

KAC would be nice, but it's quite a bit more. I'm pretty much at the limit with the 3 up there.

Came across Schmeisser recently:

OK, I'll bite...why exactly? The bolt carrier group will change out for a regular one no problem in a pinch.

The carrier is the same (mine is a semi-auto cut carrier - not sure what others have) - the difference lays with the bolt and cam pin - you cannot run a KAC E3 bolt in a regular barrel extension (not sure why anyone would bother with that anyhow), but other than that there are no issues with compatibility.

I guess I may be wrong, I was pretty sure that the different cuts of the BCG end of a KAC carrier group would only be compatible with KAC BCG only. But either case, any of those 3 are fine choices including LMT and the quality of KAC.

I would recommend the DD. Super value there! And it's a top tier ar with out some bells and whistles some other have like ambi stuff.

But if insist on the 3 listed, I would go Schmeisser just for the name alone. Pretty sure you would be the only one at the range with that one!!

That's what I'm thinking heh!
German made... awesome barrel... looks great... european and asian forms are talking nothing but great stuff about it...
price wise they are all around $2k..

What about Noveske or VLTOR? Or Mikethebike's favorite Christensen Arms? Hehe!

lol CA, what a joke, you would have more luck punching a hole in a paper target with a sling shot.

Owning both a KAC SR15 Mod2 and a DD MK18, i would not part with any of those, the KAC is fantastic and super accurate, the MK18 carry a mega fun factor and very accurate to, never had a single failure on either .... JP.
