ok after all the KAC talk, and doing some research about it, I'm really now leaning towards the SR-15...
just sent out couple emails about financing.. see what happens..

The Barret is way too much for what it is. Even going through IRUN I would not pay that much for it.

You list goes from $1600 to $3000, that is a big ball park you are playing in.

Have you looked at the TROY SDMR?
LWRC IC SPR?
Adam Arms C.O.R?
Any of the BCM offerings, surprised you left them out.

I agree with Jamie, i all ready own a KAC and a MK18 and both are proven top shelve AR, cant go wrong here, the KAC is awsome to say the least... JP.

KACs are very well-regarded rifles, and although pricey, would be a top pick. The DDs are excellent value for the price, as others have mentioned. The Barretts seem crazy high priced considering their lack of reputation in the AR world, and Schmeissers are too unknown to take a chance on. I would not consider those two at all. Other top brands to look at would be Colt, LMT, or BCM.

Checked few sites for the sr-15 and so far I have only gotten 'not in stock at this time' reply

so I guess DD it is... Seems to be pretty popular and nothing but great reviews..
don't like the short barrel of the mk18.. I do like the look of the DDM4V5

The Equipment Exchange has KAC's for sale. There are a few with those 18" barrels. They aren't bad. My DD barreled franken AR is doing quite well. Don't be fooled, the length of the barrel has very little to do with accuracy. In fact, shorter has very good accuracy too.
 
Just buy the KAC, I have the flip up sight 11.5" and it has been amazing. Hard use … bolt group is so gummed up from zero cleaning and it still runs like a champ…as a back up I chose the Diemaco 15.7 … the QC and testing was the kicker for me. If I was to buy a 3rd Carbine tomorrow, it would be a DDMK18.
