Tried out the Cooey 600 today that I bought for $75, and it seems to be misfeeding. First round popped up tail first, had to shake it out, only one of the 10 tested seemed to feed properly. It seems they aren't being fed up into the bolthead properly and drop down nose first, sitting there loose. Ammo was CCI Quiet 22LR ( 710FPS , round nose lead bullets)
Any adjustments, checks I can make to fix it?
Thanks.

Take it apart and clean, and inspect.
There's two bolts - 1) the big one that separates the stock from the metal and 2) the rod with nut that holds the mag tube to the barrel. That one is a bit of a finesse, the nut needs to be tight, but the rod under needs to be JUST tight enough to the tube to hold it in place but not too tight as it needs to allow the tube to move with the bolt. A little grease may help
Work the action with the stock off to see if there is an obvious problem.
The bolt is attached to the mag tube, you can shake it loose once you have the rod&nut removed. Make sure the metal is all lined up underneath. There's a metal tab that fits into a slot at the end of the "mag action" to push up the bullet. My guess is this is where your problem is and may require two pairs of pliers to gently bend the metal into place. A little grease here also helps.
Unless it's the bolt face. That gets a good degreasing and cleaning. Dental floss, pipe cleaners and dentist picks (my surplus store has them for $5) are your friends.
FWIW I paid $135 today for an excellent condition 60. You got quite a bargain - could be for a reason.

Thanks, I was thinking the extractor may be the issue , the claws look a bit bent-in at the bottom, but looking at the stud/nut, there's about 1/8 inch gap between the stud bottom and the tube magazine, and it seems pretty loose. I'll be stripping it down and giving a good cleaning with an eye to all the points mentioned. It was labeled in the shop as "Cooey single shot" so there may have been a tag mix-up, or they may have known it had feeding issues, but that's what the guy said so that's what I paid. :) Looks to be in good cosmetic and mechanical shape otherwise, no visible wear in the works. No doubt I can get it sorted. Are extractors still available? Is it the same as the earlier model 60?

Well, have been fiddling with the extractor and still no joy- it almost seems like the 22LR are too long, and I may try a shorter round. The bullet gets jammed under the "cone" at the breech end. Occasionally the rounds pop up without entering the chamber. May need new extractor part.

When out of stock;
-Lift bolt handle, and push n' pull assembly with magazine tube Tighten nut 1/4 turn per attempt until it binds(you may actually make the handle drop a touch before binding the magazine tube). Back off one full turn, reassemble, and test.

When this adjustment is too tight, it [obvioulsy] binds the whole works, and they seem to misfire occasionally. When too loose, all manner of issues can present themselves including difficulty removing the inner mag tube, clunky cycling(it will never, ever be truly "smooth"), and esp. feeding!

My Model 60 doesn't like CCI AR-Tactical 22LR - I haven't had a problem cycling the CCI Quiet 22, though, or anything else - the bullet shape of the AR rounds is what I chalked it up to. The first time I took my 60 apart, I had trouble getting the bolt tension right on reassembly, but with some fiddling it got much better and damn if it doesn't shoot beautifully for a 60 year old rifle. The Remington subsonics work particularly well in mine.
