When buying your used brass do you prefer to have it all prepared, cleaned , sized, trimmed, etc.?

Or

Do you prefer to buy used brass as is to process it your way?

I like to buy my stuff as is so that I know all my brass has gone through the same process and all final dimensions will be the same.
 
Depends what it is, some bulk handgun brass resized would be nice, rifle or match brass I'd want to know it's prepped the same.

I've seen/had a lot of used brass that had been de primed but not resized, not sure why anyone would run a few thousand 9mm through a decapping die and not just resize at the same time:confused:

I would prefer any brass fired in a glock be resized. That would save a lot of wear and tear on my arm.

I decap and tumble my own brass then size it afterwards. It keeps the dirt out of the sizing die and makes decapping go quicker.
 
Depends on both the source and the purpose. I bought 1k of plinking brass for my AR from budget and it was excellent. I did however check all of them as I was priming on dial gauge for length. Brass for a bolt gun or accuracy is a different matter though
 
I prep all my brass MY way so regardless of what the seller says about the brass.. it all goes thru my case prep ritual . It's the best way to guarantee uniformity.
 
I prep all my brass even if its been prep, FL size then trim regardless of if its been already. Only difference if its been tumbled then I will go right to FL versus used brass where I wet tumble it first
 
I sell or trade prepped .223 brass every now and then on the EE, it's all ran thru my 650xl and trimmed with my RT1200 then swaged on my super swager, random case checks are done with a Dillon gauge every 30-40 pieces so if anything moves I can cull the mistakes... Nothing ever moves and variance so far is only introduced when resetting the trim die...cases are ultrasonic cleaned pre and post processing... I inform all buyers how I handle the brass, I add 5-10% extra brass to the order for free so they can cull any cases that slip thru with split necks or defects.


Most folks who buy from me have a single stage press on the bench so buying 250-500 ready to load .223 cases for half of the new cost is a very good deal when you add up the time and equipment cost in something as tedious as .223...


If your picky about your brass then I'd suggest buying new in quantity from the same lot as I do for several important rifles, I'd never put mystery brass thru a gun that my life depends on.
 
I don't mind one bit if it has been cleaned, bonus if they were also deprimed. Resizing and trimming I prefer to do on my own regardless if the seller said they were already sized/trimmed.
 
See this is what I am talking about. A kind soul offered me some 30-30 brass for the cost of shipping.

When I got it it was nice and clean and shiny. Much to my shigrin it had an OAL of 2.02. Great for ftx bullets. I trim mine to 2.035...quite the difference.
