Ruger 9E

Barrel length : 4.14" inches.

Prohib by .03 inches.

But do not be dissapointed, Canada is safer that way.

Oh I'm well aware of that ... just wondering if our dealers or someone with an ear to the ground knows what may be on the horizon.

You mean like a canadian-legal version? Highly doubt it. As far as I'm aware, Ruger has never modified a pistol configuration for the Canadian market.

So 1 mag instead of 2, less machining and cheaper finish on the slide, but $100 cheaper.

I like the slim profile of the SR9, but I actually prefer the less machining and the serrations on the back are much nicer (for me) on the 9E :D

That and the removal of the flagged loaded chamber indicator is a big improvement. Having a better finish would be nice, but the oxide is fine for me.

I actually like the look of that slide and no loaded chamber flag is also fine for me. I wonder if all the goodies inside are identical? I wonder if the mags are the same?

If they are $369 up here, I'd buy another one just because I like my "regular" SR9 so much.

Economy version of an economy gun....next up the 9P....for poor. It's just a slingshot mounted on the plastic frame...

ill be damned, your right!
crap thats 105.156mm!!!
ahhhhh we are all 0.844mm short!

Bloody hell, man- don't post that here! The RCMP will try and confiscate them now.
As I recall, I measured mine once and it came out a micro-nadge over the dreaded "you will become a killer" limit. I'm very careful not to polish the muzzle after shooting it so as to keep it legal. :)

like race car drivers running over rubber at the edges of the track to pick up ride height and/or weight before post race inspection. Keep that crud on the muzzle :)

i have a P89 from years ago, love it.
cheap and works.
i have a SR9 from when they first came out and i like it.

ill definitely pick up a couple of these if/when they make an appearance up here in canada.
seem like they would be nice guns to start the kids off on when they transition to centerfire.

I think there may be some confusion about the definition of restricted and prohibited when it comes to handgun barrel lengths. The actual rule is as follows:

http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/faq/index-eng.htm#a3

Prohibited firearms include:

handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm or less and handguns that discharge .25 or .32 calibre ammunition, except for a few specific ones used in International Shooting Union competitions;

So no need to worry about these ones.

1) Ruger has produced revolvers with Canada only barrels

2) Manufacturers in the US measure the barrel (logically enough) the ### measures the barrel + head space on a closed slide

3) 105 mm + .0001 mm = legal, it just has to beat 105 by a measurable amount.
