SIG SAUER SSG 3000 Review

3 barrels for my SSG 3000. L to R.

Original Sig Sauer .308 Win., Shilen Stainless Match .243 Win. with barrel adapter, Sauer STR 200 match 6.5x55 SKAN :)

I'm glad I picked up one of these rifles.

That's very cool with the three barrels.

I'm in for the long haul. I decided to stick it out for the FDE coloured stock. Let's hope it will be soon.

Where you get the barrel and adapter, I sure would love to get myself a 260rem, very nice and long range caliber.

That action, bolt and barrel attaching method is almost identical to a Sauer 200. I have one of those and barrels in 30-06 and 25-06. Smoothest bolt action I have ever felt.

Nope. Im an idiot. Metric hex dont work try imperial...had to buy a set though.
1/16th is the correct one.

Are your barrels/reciever metric or std thread?

Not entirely sure what you're asking as the barrels do not screw into the receiver. But the clamping screws that hold the barrel into the receiver take a 5 mm hex key. The .308 barrels that come on this version of the SSG3000 are threaded 5/8x24 at the muzzle for the US market. The STR 200 match barrel is completely unthreaded except for two small threaded holes on top near the muzzle where a target sight would be mounted, this is a European barrel so I imagine those mounting holes are a metric thread.

The adapter I bought from a company in Denmark don't recall the name at the moment but I'll look it up. It ended up being about $300 CDN shipped. It is very nicely machined/blued and they were quick to ship. The barrel is just a standard Shilen stainless match barrel that I had fitted and head spaced to the adapter. The muzzle was threaded M18x1 and the barrel and thread protector was finished in Cerokote to match the other barrels.

Maybe I take my rifle apart see what the adapter look like, more than likely I can make them. thank you for the info.

Range report with grizzly brake:

Holy hell I get more kick shooting the norc ar15 than the ssg 3000 with the grizzly muzzle brake. Will buy again. Slight regret on the pointy end though. Poked myself by accident (because im an idiot, if you havent learnt that by now) but it just looks so good.

Lol dad wants one on his trg now....

The Hunter brake from Grizzly Gunworks is a mean looking brake. I run their externally threaded brakes on my .300 WinMag and .338 Lapua and they are very effective as well.
