For those interested: Long Branch Arsenal will be having an open house today (Saturday) from 10-4 at 1352 Lakeshore Rd at Dixie.

There is not much left, but apparently there is a group trying to preserve what is left. I don't have a link to anymore information, just what I have heard through word of mouth.

Thought I would pass it on for those who might be interested.

The actual Canadian Arsenals Long Branch Plant was torn down years ago. The only thing left, last I was there, was the concrete slab floor. That'd be the grey open space on the satellite view.

There's an admin/inspection building still there. That's where they have these events.

I had the opportunity to talk to one of the event organizers and it sounds like they have a lot of local support to have the last remaining building deemed a historic site and protected from the wrecking ball.

They have a ways to go to get it back up to speed and livable again, plus an ongoing battle with vandals braking windows and spray painting whatever they can get into, but at least they are trying.

This was the fourth year for the event, and they are already planing for next year, the last Saturday in September for the next event.
