load recepies for 3006 Spfld with 165 gr & 180 gr TSX Barnes

Loading 3006 Springfield for a Benelli R1
Want to try out 156 and 180 GR Barnes TSX
Narnes Website say to use
46.5 gr of IMR 4064 with 165 gr bullet
44.5 gr of IMR 4064 with 180 gr bullet

burn charts list IMR 4064 as equivalent to Varget. The other power they suggest is Big game
If it is equivalent then how much power should i use to start with - any suggestions?

I have lots of Varget, IMR 4350 and IMR 4831
Any suggested load recipes?

I worked up a load of 57.0 IMR 4350 and 165 grain tsx .050 off the lands in a factory rem 700 shot 3/4 MOA at 100 yards fairly consistently. This is a near max load so I would work up to it checking for pressure signs. I found the tsx needed a bit more jump then bullets I had previously been loading.

My hunting load is 46gr of 4064 pushing a 180gr TTSX, although next year I may switch to a 165/168gr bullet.

Sidebar: Where did you get that link? I've been trying to get on the Barnes site for three days now and it's always down. And the link you provided has about 8 different powders listed. Their site usually has two for each billet weight. Great info! Just wondering where it came from.

I killed a ton of stuff with 50 grains of Varget under various 165 and 168 bullets in four different 30-06s. One of those was the 168 TSX. Back off 4 or five grains to start.

Varget and 4064 work well in 30-06, but I've always found my best loads in the 180's with 4350, either the IMR or Hodgdon's.

58g IMR4350 and 168g TSX works for me.

3006 test with Rem 700 BDL 22" barrel all loads near max or max

fine tuned and went with IMR 4350

Has anyone worked up a load using IMR 4831 with Barnes 180s IT says between 53 - 56.5 grains with velocity of 2501 - 2654 which is a bit lower than IMR 4350 but I do have 8 lbs of IMR 4831 so was thinking it might be worth some testing ... and then again this close to hunting season - maybe not (

My newest rifle: LH Ruger Hawkeye, 30-06 RCBS IMP (30deg) chamber, Hornady 165gr GMX, 61gr 47SL-10 (slow H414) S&L 1-12" twist 23" long barrel, WLR primer, Norma brass, OAL 3.445". This one shoots them just under 3000fps. I allways had best performance and accuracy with H414 powder and 165gr bullets in 30-06.
