Not sure if this has been brought up before. Just in case it is a heads up for anyone who owns M&P .40. I purchased a box of Winchester .40 180 grain in addition to a box of BDX .40 180 grain.

The winchester round had difficulty going in the mags because it is a longer round. The nose of the round rubs against the inner wall and makes travel in and out a problem. You can see from the pic below that the Win round is longer.

Side by side comparison of Win and BDX rounds. Win is on the left.

Good grief - what a PITA!

Overall length of the .40 S&W is supposed to be 1.135" (Wiki) - where the projectiles look to be similar profile/shape, I'd measure the round, and verify that it's too long, then call Winchester. Must be a manufacturing error. If they come good for a replacement coupon, great, else I'd pull the projectiles, replace the powder with a known recipe for that weight, and reseat the bullet to the right length. I wouldn't push these in with the existing powder, and god forbid you pull one of the projectiles and find it's actually much longer than the norm!

Weird discovery, thanks for sharing!

Looking at the depth of the bullet on the left it would appear sometihng was amiss at Winchester with the whle lot as your box would not likely be the only one with bullets not seated correctly. If you don't hear back from Winchester, post the pictures on an American forum. You likely will get Winchester's attention in a hurry.

could be a manufacture defect. it looks like the bullet was not pushed down enough.

I've shot bunches of that exact ammo and have never had that problem. I can take pics and measure with a very accurate caliper as well to confirm if you'd like. I wonder if Winchester would send you a free box for your troubles if you contacted them?

That would be a given I am sure.
