What happened to powder?

There's another component shortage? I think I will sit this one out too, but I have seen more than a 100 lbs in the last week in local gun shops.

Check Kijiji and sometimes Facebook for supplies. I've scored a couple of times that way. Saw an ad for 5lbs N160 last week for $120.

I loaded up on stuff after the last panic just as obama was elected. Still running on that cache...:)

It helps that most of my rifles run the same powder and primers.

I was just in the Prince George WSS, and they have some VV powders, a bit of IMR stuff, and I bought a pound of Trail Boss.

They also had seemingly lots of .22.

Even had .22 shorts!

CORRECTION: I just got home and put my powder away and noticed- it's the same size and shape of black plastic bottle Hodgdon's uses and sells as 1 lb, but this one contains only 9 ounces!

I can't find any medium-slow rifle powder looking for 4350 or RL-17 or VV equivalent and there's none

hasn't been hard to find medium rifle powder, just a touch more expensive than i'd like

I just picked up 12 pounds of H4895, 8 pounds of varget (another 8 on the way shortly here), 8 pounds of 8202XBR, 5 pounds of TAC, and a few pounds of misc stuff to try out and see how it works with different bullets....

It sure seems like there isn't AS MUCH as one would like, but if one wants powder (at least rifle powder) it certainly can be had, just gotta pay a bit more.

And I don't think the "life is too hard" thing is reasonable... it's more a "shooting isn't my #1 priority" thing. Shooting is my #1 hobby, and i enjoy it with my 6 year old daughter. I'm a single dad, so there's no second income to be had here. I still manage to make room in the budget for shooting...

Given, 2 kids is more expensive, but 2 incomes is also bigger money

That has been pretty much my experience as well over the years.Quite often it boils down to priorities or the old wants versus needs thing. We are not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination but once the needs were covered there was a little bit leftover and we decided where that bit extra went, sometimes it went on the shooting hobby, sometimes it went somewhere else.
