I have a cooey 64 that has been sitting for several years , I cleaned it up and broke the plastic mag ( add curses here) does anyone know where to get the conversion kit to the metal mags ???

You will likely have a hard time finding the conversion kit. HOWEVER, luckily for you, Savage is in Ontario and you can order all the parts from them. As you likely already know, the Savage 64 shares the same parts as the Cooey. This is what you need to do....contact Savage at the following number

Savage Arms Canada Inc
248 Water St PO Box 1240,
Lakefield ON,
K0L 2H0
705-652-8000

Below is the list of what you need. The part numbers should be correct, but tell them what you are trying to do and confirm the following

2 of 700426 magazine housing screw
2 of 700456 lock washer
1 of 700484 magazine housing
1 of 700485 magazine

Let me know what Savage says. If the cost seems a bit high, I have and may decide to part with the parts you require to convert your gun.

Hope this helps.

Does Savage Canada have a website? The US site lists Western Gun parts as a distributor, and they sell a conversion kit for the change, but does the conversion kit contain the barrel retaining clip? Anybody here done this conversion lately? I'm about to do mine.

Kits were available last spring when I did my conversion.
I believe an orange one was close to cost.
Call around, they are out there.
Del had one back then, not sure of availability now.

I've done 2 conversions with the parts from Western Gun Parts. It comes with a new mag and all the parts (including the barrel retention clip) that you need to convert a 64 into a 64B. You will have to alter the metal mag inlet housing to accommodate the new mag. I used a dremel and a hand file then I reblued what I'd altered and it looked great. Lots of luck.

From your other thread: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/foru...64-lineage?p=10451778&viewfull=1#post10451778

Parts may be acquired straight from Savage. I don't know if they have a Canadian specific website, but if you call you could ask. Use info from post #2 to contact them.

When I called Savage Canada about parts for a 64B I was connected to a warehouse in the US. Part shipped from the US.

The best part? I also had them ship a spare magazine and it was marked "Made in Canada" lol
