Hello guys and gals. I did the auto bolt release "mod" to my 10/22. Now I want to go back to original. Does anybody have an original they want to get rid of? Or is someone wanting to do the mod and just want mine in exchange for their un-modified one? Thanks in advance, and good shooting, Toni.

I've tried all the local vendors I have around here and all they have is the after-market "modded" ones. Can someone point me in the right direction to get an un-modified original ruger part? Thank you, Toni.

Post a WTB on the EE in Rimfire Parts Exchange. You can probably get an entire trigger pack for < $50 from someone who's swapped out their factory trigger for a Timney.

You're entitled to do as you please. Without a last round hold open, the mod does nothing to improve performance or function.

I was always fighting with mine to get it to release, the mod made that problem go away. But I don't like ,that it doesn't hold open on the last rnd,. I don't like the fact ,of not knowing if the gun is empty or not. Other than not knowing if the mag is empty or not, is there another reason why the hold open is important? Thanks

I agree fiddling with that little button to release is kind of a pain the mod is soooo much better

Why are you locking it open in the first place? If its due to range policy then what's the rush? The mod doesn't do anything for locking it open, only releasing it. If you're not competing then what's the rush? If you are competing then starting bolt closed works just as well. A last round hold open is only beneficial in indicating the firearm needs to be reloaded. A manual hold open is all but useless, which makes the mod useless as it requires you to first lock the bolt back.

As for not knowing "if its loaded". Just a reminder of fundamental rules #1 for firearms handling. "All firearms are always loaded."

Exactly.

I myself like the "mod" as it eliminates the the need for a two handed bolt release, but if course, it's personal preference. With my last few 10/22's I had to fidget with them most of the time to get the bolt to release. So for me.... It improves function.

To the OP, I found an original piece, I'll pm you.

Why does it take two hands and why are you locking the bolt open?

I finally found one. Well, actually a fellow gun nut found one and is sending it my way. At no charge!! Thank you Lustrium! A true gun nut indeed. So to follow Lustrium's excellent lead, I am offering my modded piece to whom ever needs one. At no charge of course! Just pm me your info. There truly are some great guys out there. Thanks again Lustrium, and good shooting everyone.

I like the autorelease

a fully loaded magazine inserts so much easier on an open bolt
then flip the bolt and good to go

I always leave the bolt open unless they are stored
