Hey all, I have a 10/22 with a picatinny rail and I'm looking to mount a scope. Any advice is appreciated on scope mounts and a scope.
Thanks in advance

I'd suggest taking your rifle to your local store, and asking for help.
*Make sure to call ahead if you're bringing your rifle.

My 10/22 had a cheap 3-9x40 Bushnell, I think cost was $90. The scope is many years old, survived ~30000 rounds, and still in use on my nephews .22
I don't recall my rings, but judging by my scope budget, they were probably cheap. :)

Your budget and shooting style will dictate what scope to buy. Everyone will suggest what they bought, because it worked for them. The store will have options, where you can pick what'll work for you.

Good luck

We need to know what distance youd like to shoot and how much money youd like to spend?
Learning the hard way, imo spend more on glass once than buying cheap and having to buy two or three scope is best.
Some say, spend atleast half the rifles cost or more. Ive read alot of people think anything over 16x is overkill.
I would agree if hunting but for target shooting imo, the more the better.
Here is great info for all!!!!!

Also if your only going to benchrest shoot or shoot offhand matters. The weight of rings and scope can add 1+lbs. This may now seem like alot but for offhand shooting it might.
Hope this helps.

I put a Nikon P-22 2-7x 32mm on my 10/22 and it works great. Very clear glass on the Nikon's, mine came with the BDC 150 reticle. It's a little on the high side of cost for a 10/22 (paid $147 on clearance for display model) but is a great rim fire scope with a "tactical look", if that is what you are looking for. Picked mine up at P&D and bought one piece Talley rings/base for it.

Tankers guys, yeah it's for shooting game. I like shooting targets as much as the next guy. But I like to shoot my grouse and such in the head so not much over 50 yards which is kinda hard for me with open sights. I'm not extremely limited with funds so $150 seems reasonable......

Tasco for a budget scope. Again imo if you have other guns, spending abit more for a scope that is swappable saves money in the long run.
3-9x would be a good start for up to 50yds. Its a balance act between power and weight. More power mean usually tighter groups but means more challenging to keep on target or even find the target. Plus added weight.
If you go cheap, the clearity of the scope then is an issue. No fun shooting if you cant see what your shooting.
Eye relief also comes into play.
Dont take my word, just read the 6mmbr opinions.

Bushnell TRS-25 Trophy Series Red Dot Sight.

Well within your price range.

I use a Vortex Sparc red dot on mine, basically the same idea only a bit pricier. The TRS-25 are very well thought of/clear optics, and you can mount it very close to the bore so you're not fighting the arc of the shot much at 50yds.

On a basic 10-22 Carbine, the accuracy of a 0x Red Dot will exceed the accuracy of the rifle, in most cases, at 50yds. Unlimited eye relief and 0 parralax if you don't get yourself perfectly lined up, mean that it's far easier to get quick snap-shots off than with an actual scope. And the aim point with a Red Dot is far easier on the eyes than open sights.

Personally, I just don't find the 10-22 to be an accurate enough platform for actual magnified optics. 50yds minute of grouse head can be done with a red dot.

I agree, basic 10/22 yes. A kidd, volquarsen or magresearch gun, completely different story.
With good glass and ammo, cutting q-tips is repeatable.
For a red dot, +1 for the trs-25, fyi some come with highmount at no extra charge.
Shop around can save you $20-$60 on it!

For sure, some of the high end, or custom, 10-22s can be absolutely amazing for accuracy. One of these days, I just might "go there" but I can get such great accuracy, for less $$, with a good .22 bolt (and I have a couple of .22 bolts that qualify) that I just haven't been motivated to go there yet. Someday, maybe. It's on that giant "list" that just seems to get longer all the time.

It's not cheap, but a Leupold EFR (AO) 3-9x has become my favorite rimfire scope for everything but long range shooting.

I have a Bushnell AR 2-7x on a Ruger 10/22, this scope is a rimfire scope with a side parallax adjustment. The scope also has a BDC reticule which is good if you are shooting at different ranges and the cost is $159 at P&D

I have bought a few Chinese clone Leopold scopes after my buddys told me at less than a 100.00 hard to beat off Ebay 3.5 - 10 X 40. Zeroed at 50 yards I prefer MilDots for scopes.

Absolutely love the turrets and optics, really heavy duty and the Mildots work so well when hunting gophers , I have these on my rimfires and centrefires too.

Not the best 50 yard groups with cheap bulk ammo but no way I could do this with my flip up irons!

So, 50 yards, what would you expect for accuracy? Golf ball, baseball? I think it would be great for my 10/22. My .17 HMR can do the hard stuff.

Well if I do my part and use a bit better ammo even with my factory 10" barrel I can hit a golf ball at 50 yards pretty much all the time. I have a red dot to but unmagnified much past 50 yards I found it hard to pick out gophers in the grass and with my 3.5 to 10 power scope 100 yards were possible but very hard with my Red Dot.

My 50 yard target using cheap bulk ammo shows that head shots on pests is doable. My scopemounts are QD and raised see thrus so I use my irons 25 yards and down.

With front support, and decent ammo, at 50 yard, golf ball accurate.

Off hand, depends on the day. Some days as good as with front support. Most days, baseball-softball accurate. Bad days, basketballs have nothing to fear.

For precision I lay in with a CZ 452 Lux (see profile pic) with a leupold 2-7x VX1 Fully supported, it can shoot 3/4"-1" at 75meters, gopher accurate at 100m with the bipod, with CCI SHP .22lr running at 1760FPS... Crazy ammo that stuff, my CZ is the only .22 I have that can shoot it well (too hot and fast for most .22 rifles), but it does shoot it VERY well.
