Recently bought my first 22lr bolt action online from a site sponsor here NIB.

Cleaned it and now I am familiarizing myself with it before I take it to the range.
Love the wood and deep blue metal looks (there is a bit of fudd in me I guess..) but something is wrong with it.

It pretty much never extracts a (unfired) round after it is cycled/put in the chamber.
I can see the round being pushed onto the bolt face when closing the bolt but then it won't come out.
Also by not using mag and inserting round straight into chamber it wont pick it up.
Have tried federal/am.eagle and winchester dynapoint gt. both same issue.

Any ideas? Or just contact seller to return the rifle?

Look for marks on the bullet of the unfired rounds and see if they have marks from a tight chamber or from contact with the rifling.

Get back to us if it's still a problem extracting a fired case.

Otherwise, quit dinking about with live ammo where you are not prepared to shoot it.

Cheers

@ trevj;

I don't see any rifling marks, chamber is tight enough that an unfired round does not fall out when I keep the muzzle pointing up.
So you think the empty case will be pushed into the extractor upon firing? Is this based on experience?
I would think that the bolt face pushes the round tight and the round does not have any play once locked in by the bolt.

UPDATE: extraction issue caused by extractor springs being not strong enough.
Replaced springs by stronger ones and no issues at all anymore.
See also my other thread about it.

Thanks trevj, problem solved.
It was indeed the bullets contact with the rifling. Hard to see on the bullet though..
Thanks again for your input.
