Lol and the rcmp says the the charger is widely available.
500 doesnt seem like a big number.
I saw one for sale at wildwild west in Edmonton. fyi.

I was offered a Choate already, but I really prefer the Butler Creek. My ideal stock would be this Ruger Mini 14 factory folder added onto a stock 10/22 wood stock:

The BC Stainless is the next best thing IMO

i'm really interested to see where you go with this. Please keep updating through out the build. I have a bc folder that I just love. Metal was cold against the cheek so I wrapped it in paracord. I will post pics here sooner or later.

We stock the Butler creek stocks, have a look at the underfold stocks as well for your project, HERE.

A similar restricted project we did for a customer:

So Hical, is the new gun prohib or does it need to be reclassified? My understanding is when a rifle becomes a pistol it need to be registered. If it isnt, your showing us a prohibited weapon that you made.

Holy boner killer batman. He's just trying to help the OP unlike some people. I'm sure a respected dealer on this site would go through all the required steps for a paying customer.

The rifle becomes a restricted firearm, as its under 26" OAL, factory made 8" barrel. We verify & register it as such, we had the FRT changed to a pistol. We are all firearm instructors & i am a verifier & consultant for local agencies , we know the laws & only do thing the right way!! But thanks for your concern. Be aware, There is no going back to a non restricted status later once it is registered as a pistol....

Incorrect.

A gun *originally* classed as a *pistol* (ie: Charger) cannot be made non-restricted, and a rifle *named* as restricted under Order-in-Council (ie: AR 15's) cannot be made non-restricted....but that's it. The 10/22 in question will not be an issue...it will simply be registered as a restricted rifle due to overall length under 26 1/2" (Unless you re-registered it as a *pistol*....which would not only be completely unnecessary, but stupid as well)

So hypothetically, if a person had a take down model 10/22 and had 2 interchangeable barrel & fore stock assemblies, one stock 18" (over 26" o/a when assembled) and one custom 5.5" (less than 26" o/a) they could change back and forth between R and NR as many times as they want? I seem to also remember reading that you have 30 days to change classification....hmmmm

ps: This is just hypothetically, I have no intention of doing this.

*edited to add*: You're a DEALER doing conversions and re-registrations/verifications and don't know this? Spooky....

can you explain why a Thompson center carbine that was changed to restricted can't be changed back to non restricted ststus ?

Im going to guess that the TC, by virtue of being spawned from a pistol frame was (accurately or erroneously...not sure) reverted back to pistol status. A gun can be made restricted 4 ways: order in council, rifle O/A length under 26 1/2", Centerfire rifle with barrel shorter than 18.5", or conversion to pistol.
