CQBm7 Championship - AAR and stats

As always it was a great day at Service CQBm7 Championship.

Every time I go up, I look at the weather and then realize I have forgotten my rain gear or whatever on the chair by my front door.

But again once Tim arrived, the sky’s attempted to unleash on us, but with that special “Tim look” they thought they better not and then it cleared up enough for a great day!

How did you like the change up on the targets! Got me going too! Always something different.

A special thank you out to Sandy on stats and Dave and Enoch as AROs.

The rib and chicken BBQ was “mouthwatering” delicious (see photos below).

Once again we drove to Borden in a pre-dawn rain. By the time of the safety briefing, it had let up to a light drizzle.

The drizzle stopped for the first relay and the blue sky appeared by the third relay. It was a great day for shooting. Not hot, not cold and not wet.

We enjoyed the benefits of a dedicated stats runner to take the score cards back to stats.

We were under extra competitive pressure today because a Team from the Governor Genera's' Foot Guards (Ottawa) joined us. They shot like pros.

Rifles were the usual preponderance of AR-15s, plus a smattering of upscale (Swiss Arms)and downscale (858) rifles, and today a real milsurp, a M1 carbine.

This was the CQB Championship, which features a lavish prize table and a BBQ.

Tim and Bryon arranged prizes from sponsors, including a SIG pistol from MD Charlton and a carbine from NEA, gift cards from EPPS, and a Vortex scope.

I did not win any of the big prizes, but I did come home with a full stomache, a new Vortex hat and a plaque proclaiming me a "Rookie"... I richly deserved that plaque.

As Timfoo announced, next season will be an opportunity for many of you to step up and volunteer. We need to keep this great community feel / activity/event alive! We built a wonderful thing over the past 8 years (that's when Timfoo used to bounce all his ideas off me, and we trialed them as a "Carbine Competition")

All of you shooters and helpers make me proud and happy to be a part of this community!

Was a fun match on Sat... Too bad I had 3 magazine issues and lost about 65 points right there Oh well, part of the game, damn PMAGs... Hehehe... Congrats to TheKid and Bolivar, for winning best place for military and civilian, wow your scores were pretty amazing!

It is always a privilege to shoot with the troops. This group from the Foot Guards shoots SR as well so the faces were familiar. It took me a while to figure what they were doing different. I finally realized they didn't have their helmets on like when they shoot in SR.
I saw ORA folks who shoot SR at Connaught at this CQB match. These shooters came from Ottawa and Montreal areas to do a one day match. None of us CQB regulars should grumble about our driving distance.

It is always a privilege to shoot with the troops. This group from the Foot Guards shoots SR as well so the faces were familiar. It took me a while to figure what they were doing different. I finally realized they didn't have their helmets on like when they shoot in SR.
I saw ORA folks who shoot SR at Connaught at this CQB match. These shooters came from Ottawa and Montreal areas to do a one day match. None of us CQB regulars should grumble about our driving distance.

Thank you for the kind words! As for the pistol handling, I tend to shoot more pistol then I do rifle; to me it's more fun Hopefully we'll make our way back to Borden next season. I was impressed with how you guys make shooting a family affair!
