Going by the MNR's published numbers, there are by far way fewer turkeys harvested in the fall season than in the spring. I know it is a short season and all but are most guys preoccupied with deer and whatever else is open this time of year? Is anyone excited for the season? Or am I only excited because I'm not deer hunting?

I didn't get many chances to get out in the spring for turkey and this is still my first year hunting. What are my chances of being successful this fall as opposed to spring hunting?

I enjoy fall turkey, but keep inmind it competes with waterfowling, deer season, grouse hunting etc etc.......

Fall turkey is a completely different game than spring turkey and, in my opinion, nowhere near as fun..... Still, busting up a flock and calling them back in is very enjoyable..... I usually have my birdin the fall within one or two outings then focus on other things.....

OK make sense. I've read in the spring they come in "blind with lust" and in the fall "blind with anger". Is it any more difficult or just different?

I would say different...... maybe a bit more difficult...... The hens are easier to get than the toms.... The toms are in bachelor groups right now and not responsive to calling.....

I usually ambush the flock and use an assembly call to bring them back in and focus on taking a big hen......

Spring is more fun. Fall doesn't have ticks. Spring you call them to you. Fall flush them and wait they usually come right back. I don't actively hunt them in the fall but I get a tag and a bird every year

So in fall it isn't as much about sneaking in undetected early before dark as it is scaring them up, then hiding and waiting for them to come back for one of their buddies?

Yep.... when they scatter they regroup..... If you find a good set of woods where they travel through frequently and can time them you can also just sit and wait...
