Pretty sure this has been discussed and as far as I understood reloading equipment was good to go. However, as I am completing my order on Cabelas.com it prompted me saying that the rock chucker kit I am wanting to get isn't meant to leave the united states. I was going to ship it to a package place in Washington and have a relative pick it up for me but I don't need them getting in some kind of trouble for this. If anyone has some wisdom for me, please share as I would like to complete this purchase. Thanks for your time.

reloading equipment/tools are fine to buy from the states, i order from titan reloading all the time without any issue.

Presses are fine, but I tried buying one from cabelas in the states and they refused to ship. I did find another and wasn't a problem

Yeah, shipping is $5 within the states so I figured having a relative pick it up from their usual package receiver was a good plan. I had a couple other items like a powder measure stand and a baffle for it and when I went to complete the order, it only listed the kit as being unable to leave the US. I know everyone seems to have no issues getting their gear from the US, but I don't want any trouble for the person I am sending to get these items.

I ordered a Rock Chucker Supreme kit at from Brownell's in the US and had it shipped to a receiver in the US, then brought it up myself after one of my trips to the U.S. (an advantage of living on a border town). No restriction as Brownell's checks this for Canadian orders even with a U.S. shipping address. Use a Brownell's discount code from their website and take advantage of the RCBS rebate and you'll get an amazing deal!

That's Cabelas response to the problems they've had with CBSA. Whether a completely legal item gets through CBSA or not is a complete crap shoot. There have been instances where they have refused items like gun cases or gun themed clothing just because they had the word "gun" in them. No logic whatsoever and you're at the mercy of whichever agent clears the package. Some are up to speed and some are completely clueless.

It's got nothing to do with Canada Customs. Cabela's USA does not export and hasn't for eons. No U.S. Dept. of Commerce exporter's licence. Go to Cabela's .ca if you want to buy from Cabela's.
E-Bay finances the people who want to take your firearms away from you. By purchasing through them, YOU give money to the Coalition for Gun Control.

I have a relative just across the border that I have all my stuff shipped to when online shopping.
I bought ALL my reloading equipment in the states. Many places will not ship across the border, but no problem within the states. You CAN buy (brass) shell cases, these are the only cartridge components that are exempt, no bullets, ammo, powder,or primers.
Shipping across the border will just about kill the price difference, triple the shipping, add brokerage fees, and extra handling, plus pay Canadian taxes. If I stay in the states for 2+ days(bring the kids and wife), I pay virtually no shipping(within US is cheap), no duty, and no Canadian taxes (I like that one), but dollar difference is getting bad again. As long as it is for my own personal use, all is good.
No, I do not purchase for anyone else.

I think eons is a bit of an exaggeration. They did export at one time prior to having Cabelas in Canada. And CC did refuse items ad hoc. They still do, for that matter. Lots of posts on here about CC follies.

You can buy all those items in the US, even ammo, most stores don't give a crap. Leaving the US on the other hand is what you can not do with out the proper paper work. These are ALL ITAR controled items including the brass. Do your homework!

There are tons of items in a U.S. Wal-Mart, gun shop, or sporting goods store that can make you an instant violator of the US export laws. I am very very cautious and only buy tools, dies, case gauges, books, etc. in the US. My own "rule" is that I do not buy anything that goes "in or on" a firearm when I am in the U.S. - despite some very tempting deals!

I buy lots of stuff from Brownell's and their order management process is quite sophisticated, meaning that the likelihood of me ordering an export-restricted item is low, as they treat all orders placed with a Canadian credit card billing address as an export order even if shipped to a destination in the U.S. They include customs documentation with all orders which would help show I am on the right side of the regs in the event of a spot check on exiting the U.S.

Not worth the risk of having U.S. Legal and border entry problems over things like brass, etc. that are readily available here.

I think that the issue is Cabelas US does not want you to buy something there that you can buy from Cabelas (Canada). Probably because they make more money selling the same product up here.

Here lies the problem. As with everything else from scopes, to fishing equipment, from cars to boats, from bikes, to quads, etc etc etc we pay much more up here. Many blame government tax,,,, nope that aint it,, business tax in Canada is less than the states,,, is it all the duties?,,, nope free trade did away with that. Ah it must be the extra shipping,,,, sorry not that. Bringing truckloads of goods up here has little effect on the per unit cost. I've got it,,,, the retailers are gouging us,,,, not at all, they suffer from this Hanky Panky, cuz you, me and many others buy from the US. The Canadian government has dug into this, and came to the same conclusion as I did, the BIG, suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers simply charge us more because we allow them too. The best examples are cars and such built in Canada sold for less in the US. The very best example is of the spin off from one of Canada's biggest corporate welfare cases, Bombardier. A few years back I purchased 11 new quads from the US, including 6 Can-Ams. My average savings even with shipping to Edmonton from the Chicago area was very close to $3500 per unit. Of the six 5 were built in Canada, and one in Mexico. HHHHHMMM tax dollars went to them and never repaid, they built them here, yet the dealer there was threatened to lose his franchise if he ever sold any back to Canada again. I could tell ya about a scope I imported, but another day. keep buying in the US, and encourage others as well, maybe the corporate scamming will end one day. Oh ya just bought shocks for my truck from rock auto, delivered to my door, 35% savings all in. A hint for the wise. Never use UPS, they have their own tax, or you don't get your stuff.
