I know, I know... It's an Express.

But.... currently the 870 Express is on sale for $80 off, going from $339.99 to $259.97 after in store svings and $25 mail in rebate.

If I read the ad right, youth 20 gauge w 21" or 12 gauge w 28" barrel

if you remove the blank between : and // will take you to the flyer...

the rebate's not just at Bass pro- it's through the cdn distributor and the form's available here

Think it's in store only

To get to the flyer google bass pro, then find a Canadian store location, then select the store flyer

Looks like you also need to remove the space between 22614 and 0&m=33760&storeID=11

Any comments on the shotgun? Good for a first shotgun?

i've heard that the 'express' models tend to be not as well finished as the 'wingmaster' models.

also more prone to surface corrosion.

however, they're substantially less expensive.

Yes they are..but for the price..you get what you pay for.

I see another 870 express not working thread coming soon. You get what your pay for and I would save more money for a better pump like a bps or nova.

The 870 express is an excellent first shotgun, bought mine 20 ish years ago and over 18,000 rounds later works great. Mine isn't rusty, just wipe it down at the end of the day with a lightly oiled rag and your good to go.

I have two 870 express shotguns, not even a hiccup with either one. They are a workhorse, and yes they are not as well finished or refined as the Wingmaster, but they are mechanically the same. I actually prefer the express for my every day shotgun, I don't worry if it gets a bump or a bruise, and it has been dropped into the duck pond more than once. Just fish it out, shuck out the shells, check the barrel and clear the action, reload and keep hunting. $259 is a great price, and if I didn't have two already I would snap one up just to have it as a spare or a future gift for a younger start up hunter.

A deal at that price. A few minutes with a drill or Dremel to polish off any burrs or rough spots in the chamber and you're good to go!
If you really want the perfect shotgun, spend an extra $200 and have Murdoc parkerize and Arma-coat it. You will end up with the most reliable workhorse money can buy... and pi$$-off Joe Blow that spent many hundreds more on an inferior designed pump and/or on an O/U with a duck engraved gold-plated receiver. If you really want piece of mind, spend an extra $14 on a forged extractor from Tacord, but you won't need it.

Nothing wrong with an express, I say buy it , it's a screaming deal. I love to have a shotgun I can take in the rain and mud without ever worrying about the finish. Mine has always cycled flawlessly.

Sadly Remington does not make the Express like 20 years ago...

well I just got back from bass pro and got one of the 870 I am very happy with it so far for the price Dutch

I have 2 as well. First one stove piped while shooting skeet all day long.
Got a second one yesterday as I am trying to see what all the hype is about. That and B.P. deal was too good to pass up.
So far second one is stove piping and jamming two shells in reciever just like the first one.

I want to love the 870 but it is not making it easy. Hands down my Mossberg 500 is a better gun. Less problems in 5 years than the 870 has given me in a month.

Yes.

... more prone to surface corrosion.

Yes. But it seems to decrease by time and frequent oiling.

Mine has never let me down and fits me well. At this price, you can buy 2 and a half! expresses for the price of one BPS or Nova.
