Marlin 336 locking bolt jam?

I have a Marlin 336 that is jamming in the closed position. It's NOT the famous "Marlin Jam" issue everyone knows about regarding the loading gate screw!

The loading gate screw is tight and the carrier moves freely. The problem occurs upon closing the lever... When you go to cycle it, it will be sticky and sometimes will grab.

I tore the gun down for bluing and had it blued. I cleaned and lubricated all parts and then reassembled the gun. I noticed the locking bolt went in really tight. I could figure out why it was so tight, as it should "float" there. So I polished the locking bolt. Nothing changed, still jams. It's as though the entire action had been "squished" somehow... You would really have to reef on this in a vice to do this. But, this being said, perhaps the gunsmith did this very thing while preping for bluing...

Anyway, should I attempt to pry the action slightly in order for the locking bolt to float freely again? I really don't want to mess it up, especially since it's not my gun!

Opinions and knowledge appreciated. Thanks!!

Check the spring as already noted. Do Not try to spread the receiver - if that is the problem then you need to go back to the gunsmith who did the bluing. If he damaged it then let him fix it.
