possible heads up for sks owners

Just checked Brockville. There is an empty rack in the cabinet, all with SKS stickers(at least 10) The condition of the cabinet indicates hasty removal.

Has anyone checked the FRT?

My only concern is that a possible slam fire (I would put cash on it) cause Canadian tire to pull there toys but if RCMP{ is involved its a year for them to look at the gun in question. then they may say this is not a prob because it can go full auto. Ya I know tin foil hat here for sure, but its the RCMP and you can see them doing something silly.

I hope this is a few weeks and ya bad gun owner and that's it.

All still Non-Restricted as far as I can see excepting the FA and CA variants. I only checked a few. There are 37 different #'s that show up on a basic search of SKS.

As we all know, slamfire is a maintenance deficiency.
The RCMP will jump on any opportunity to abolish the SKS.
An attempt to do that here will fail because the inherent design does not allow for a mechanical modification resulting in a select fire / full auto option.
That said, this is likely a knee jerk reaction by CT corporate who are exercising due diligence on a topic they are presumably ill informed on.

I personally wouldn't want CT cleaning or disassembling any Milsurp.
Next thing you know bolts and carriers are getting lost and/or mismatched.

As much as I love to make fun of the SKS for being a cheap dirty red rifle for its main purpose, I have actually come to realize that there is an even better purpose for it than what it was made for: As a step up standing position beginner rifle after a 22LR.

The first time I fired an SKS I was amazed at how little recoil there was; IMO noticeably less than even an AR.

And that is to me the best use of an SKS nowadays. It may be completely outgunned by an AR in everything that matters other than being NR, but if I could design a perfect progressive plan to get a new shooter working their way up, and SKS would be in that toolbox after the standing 22LR applications.

Yup, a fun gun. I often refer to it as a 22LR plinker replacement.

if you're noticing recoil off a 223, then you're doing something WRONG- that's only a 70 grain or less bullet moving at 2500 fps or a little more- if anything, the 7.62 x39 generates more or equal, - re a 123 grin bullet at I don't know what velociity, but it ain't much

your wrong guys .223 is more around 2800-3100 fps , the 123 gr for the 7.62x39mm is only around 2300

Honestly.. CT should not sell firearms… for the simple fact that their staff are not educated enough to do so. (safety first)

I prefer to purchase firearms from people, who know a thing or two about them… it gives me peace of mind.

Ive shopped at some of the most reputable firearms stores in Canada and some of their staff didnt appear educated enough to be selling firearms.

either way, if you're noticing recoil of a 223, no matter what the weight, you're still doing something wrong or you're a featherweight
btw, according to chuck hawks, your 7.62x39 using a 7lb gun generates a recoil of 8.1 ft lbs and a recoil velocity of 6.9 the 223 using a 62grain bullet and a 7 lb gun( that's the standard NATO round)of 3.9 ft lbs and a recoil velocity of 6.0
you can't argue with math, and your Russian round DOES generate more recoil

Not to mention bill C42 gives the gov the ability to make any prohib into a non-restricted anyway.
