Don't even mention vortex. Not gonna happen. We'll save that debate for another day.
I'm looking for a long range varmint scope to go on my .20cal.
I need something that tracks reliably and has enough magnification to see critters at 3-400 yards. Maybe further.
Lighter the better too.
The 6500 is 17.3oz and has 78moa of adjustment.

I like mine, actually i have two. Lol although im interested in a 50mm version instead of thr 42mm ones i got; I like the asthetics of the 50mm tube better. I think its only 3oz heavier. Of all the scopes ive tried, i really like the userbility of the turrets on the 6500. So easy to use and adjust.

I've got a mark 4 that's 21 oz. Same as the 50mm. So that's why i opted for the 42mm. In the end the extra couple ounces are nothing but I like a good excuse to buy stuff.

Have you looked through 6500's?

You may not like what you see. I sure didn't and now that there is no more Bausch and Lomb, ummm...

I can strongly recommend Sightron.

Jerry

Can you strongly recommend anything besides Sightron?? Your hijacks of peoples threads under the guise of offering advice is getting tired. Funny how your advice always leads down the path to a product you offer. Lame.

As someone who owns both a Bushnelll Elite 6500, 4.5-30, a Sightron 6-24, and a Sightron 8-32, I can comfortably say, that to my eyes, the Sightrons are definitely better scopes no question. The glass is clearer, all the way to full mag, unlike my Bushnell that is only usable to about 23-24 power, and the tactical turrets on the Sightron are nicer too. Plus the reticles in the Sightron I prefer over the Bushnell. All the scopes are about the same price, but the Bushnell I own will be the last one I own.
Pretty harsh to kick a guy, even a vendor, for giving his honest opinion, don't you think? If he believes that is the true story, shouldn't his opinion mean the same or even more?
By the way, I think Mystic Precision also sells Bushnell and is a dealer for those too, so he probably has lots of experience with both.
My advice for scope buyers, is look thru them with your own eyes if you can, as we all see differently and maybe what I like, another won't? Can't argue with the murky full mag issues on the Bushnell, that is a fact though.

Some have a hard time accepting that a dealer can be honest and factual. And actually post information from a position of experience. To each his own.

My Sightron on my FTR has digested 10,000 rds of 308 over the last 2.5 years. Still holds zero and tracks. Will be my primary scope to the US nationals in a couple of weeks.

Must be junk...

But then, what do I know.... I am just LAME

Jerry

PS, If there is a brand of scope that can offer the same or better performance in this price range, I will be offering it to my customers. I have access to a number of optics. Sightron sit on all my rifles at this time. Maybe a new player will give me something new to chat about.... Let's see what SHOT has to offer.

But so far nothing comes close, that's why you only sell Sightron.

Didnt say you were lame... Just your opportunistic business tactics.

hi Jerry,
I dont think anybody said Sightron scopes are Junk, but the turnout they took on theire waranty has pissed off many sightron owners
I Myself own 2 SIII but I would never buy a STAC 2.5-17 for the simple reason that the Weaver 3,5-15 gives a lot more ( illuminated , FFP, locking turrets) and better glass at low light situation
will I buy more SIII: yes
in the 3-15 power range: no unless they Wake up and offer better including locking turrets and FFP and illuminated which in my opinion is a must for a field rifle
but the little dot of the LRMOA is from far away my favorite reticule

I recently acquired a meoptA meostar 7x56, it is the first meostar I have looked through and the glass is very good and has a fantastic illuminated dot in the #4 reticle. The low light performance is on par or slightly better than my Schmidt zenith 3-12x50. I think they offer a tactical style scope as well and if the glass is anything like the sample I have it would be a winner.

I am also looking forward to checking out a sightron scope .

True about poor clarity at higher power than 23+ on the Bushnell 6500, owed one and sold it. The Burris 3-15 tactical X-hair blurry when illuminated, returned to store... Very happy about my Sightron SIII.

Personally I don't mind Jerry's input. He's a very informed person. I am also confident in making up my own mind and other's can say what they want, because I don't care.

Myself I like NF. But that's just me. Buy what you want or think you need.

Cheers!
