Just entered the world of AR's - Any recommendations on where to go from here?

I might have gone with a Specter for that gun, some BUIS, Vickers sling, many mags, and a metric butload of ammo. It's a long, slippery slope, kind of sad really, and it ends with you geared up like a Tier One Operator on Meth, cracking off rounds like Travis Haley while 2 old dudes with Winchesters stare blankly at you and mumble about the noise.

Real AR vets will tell you to shoot the crap out of it until it smokes, and then shoot some more until it doesn't smoke anymore, do this for a while and see for yourself if you need any upgrades.

I won't tell you to add this, add that, buy this or that. That's bull####ters talk.

Spot on. My set up is exactly that, mine! May not work for everyone. It's up to the shooter to decide what they need/want on their gun, not me.

It is easy to make effective hits out farish (for an AR) without magnification. 200m (all I've had the chance to test out) with irons or a no magnification red dot is not really that difficult, you just need to know how to shoot your rifle, hence shoot the crap outta that sucker and figure it out.

Don't waste $50 bills on ambi-this or ambi-that. If you plan on shooting 3gun, don't bother with the foregrip, it will only get in the way when shooting over/through barricades.

After many builds this is what I call mandatory. Magpul Moe grip.norgon ambi mag release. bad ass ambi safety. Raptor charging handle.curved trigger guard.geissele ssa. Troy buis.str stock. Enjoy!

Wow! Pretty much nailed it here, exept I prefer the MIAD grip (#3 backstrap) and a BCM charging handle. I'd say our tastes are pretty similar.

Mounted the scope and sighted it in... My apocalypse kit is almost ready...

Youll buy more just like I did , bought my first Norc AR very cheap I learned everything about them the hard way and troubleshooting after that a colt 6920 and a NEA 7.5" which is very fun to shot with the Geissele SD3G trigger. Just keep practicing

I started with a hi end one so I *hopefully* wouldn't have to go through "the process" haha. That said, the stock trigger on this is one of the nicest triggers I have ever felt on an AR. Not sure if I will be upgrading that any time soon.

Looking at the OP's pic, it came with a Magpul MOE and a curved trigger guard forged into the lower. It already has a Magpul CTR stock with QD points in it so not really sure how big an upgrade the STR would be or why it would be worth it. The charging handle on it even looks pretty upgraded vs a milspec charging handle. Unless he needs ambi, most of that stuff seems pretty tacticool. Not even sure why someone (right handed) would want an ambi mag release. Doesnt seem to meet the manual of arms.

Except the BAD Lever. Totally worth it. Love mine.

I'm not at all concerned about ambi-anything. Anyone have any experience taking off a POF handguard? I got an aluminum Pic rail section to bolt on to the bottom of the rail so I can get a foregrip on it. Also... any suggestions for a bipod?

This is what I recommend.

Try before you buy.

Optics/Accessories all are different. Some you'll like... no wait... "prefer" more then others, and some you'll downright hate.

Bipods are pretty useless unless you shoot off the bench a lot. Otherwise just un-needed weight. Foregrips again all differ. Some are taller. Some are fatter. Some are angled. Try before you buy.

just my 2 cents.
