Best new .22 handgun?

It depends on your budget, but my favorite is a S&W model 17, pricey but very nice. I picked one up and it shot like I'd owned it for years, nice feel, great quality, and accurate as they come for a pistol.

The "kool factor" has nothing to do with it.

It's how well you can shoot the gun that is "cool". If you can dime the target shot after shot, you are really in the right place!

For a .22 revolver I would definitely go S&W if you can afford it, Ruger if you can't go that far.

One thing though, If you put your bux to a Smith and Wesson you will not regret it, ever.

What kind of shooting are you doing?

To me it's about accessory choices and community support (Ruger Forum) so I chose the Ruger 22/45 series specifically the Lite. I want my son and wife to learn on it and it is super nice handling but pricey at 500.00 but I wanted something none ammo fussy and accurate. I did check out many other .22s, Buck, GSG, Walther, M&P, but none of them raelly felt as well balanced plus like I the are parts galore, you might have challenges with getting parts with the others....

This one came with sights but needed a lower rail installed: Love the poly frame and 1911 grip angle and choices.



This one has no sights but has rails is a bit cheaper too: Less than 400.00

Agreed but being able to use an accessory is a nice touch and seen on new style platforms.



I like the threaded barrels on the Rugers too.
 
You can't go wrong with a Ruger Mark II or III if you can find one. I also agree with the revolver, I have a Smith 617 and a K17 master piece both great guns.
 
I just bought a GSG1911-22.

Haven't even gotten it into my hands yet, as I await the legally required shuffling of paper.

I'm hoping it's he best one to buy ;)

You won't be disappointed. Needs some breaking in, then you're golden. Once broken in, check out Dlask for better sights.

They're a fun pistol, I found it takes about a 1000 rounds or so before it breaks in and starts working smoothly.
