Full disclosure: I'm in no way affiliated to Mr Charlton; besides one phone call and a few emails with the office manager, I don't even know the gentleman.

As we often have threads asking about gunsmith reviews, here's my take on Mr Murray Charlton (http://murraycharltonenterprises.com/), hope others find is useful.

After taking delivery of my new to me 586 no dash, I wasn't sure if everything was in spec (cylinder gap, shake, end play, etc); the action was good, but not as good as my 627PC so after exchanging a few emails with the office manager Gina, I sent the gun to have it checked and have the action tuned up (along with my K22). I was told before hand that Murray was out for a couple of weeks and that my firearms would be put in queue, so I knew I'd be looking at about a month at the very least. The day after Murray was supposed to be back into the shop, he personally called me to go over what I wanted. He gave me a quote ($150) and indicated that when he was satisfied with the work, I'd be contacted for payment. 2 weeks later I received a call from Gina, saying everything was ready to be shipped back; payment done over the phone and 4 days later gun was back in my possession.
Included with the gun, I got :
- a full page letter describing the work he did and what to do if I get any failures to ignite
- 12 spent casings from his test fire
- replaced spring (I assume it's the return spring, but not sure)
- he also did the S&W recall and M stamped the frame (which I indicated I desired done)

Yesterday I took it to the range: it's hard to express how "right" it now feels. Everything is smooth, trigger is much lighter (guess-estimate ~4-5 lbs in DA, but haven't measured), and completely devoid of any creep/hesitation. With the 627 my hand starts getting tired after ~150 rounds in double action, but I shot over 200 with the 586 and barely felt tired (I shoot almost only DA). I'm a bit picky when it comes to triggers feel and this one is very good. I got zero failures to ignite with the Federal primers I use.

In short, I highly recommend Mr Charlton; his price is not cheap, but I think is very good value. The service provided was professional, on time and exactly what I was quoted (which can't be said for all gunsmiths...). If you have a revolver and are on the fence, definitely give it a go!

I have had my 686 ND there since March of this year waiting for S&W to send them a $2 pin.

Murry and the people there have been great in response and he even called me the other day to confirm that they finally got the pins in (after complaining to Smith and Wesson directly on the lack of parts)

Very good service now that they can do the work!

I have had Charlton Enterprises work on my S&W's and their work and communication are second to none. They have been fighting with S&W to get parts to repair our Canadian guns, but they seem to be getting over that hump, slowly.
I would recommend them to anyone, first class people, first class work.

Murray Charlton Enterprises.

Personally, I'm a huge +1 for Murray Charlton Enterprises. Murray & the staff [including Gina who for the most part holds down the fort for the store front operation and is so pleasant to deal with] is second to none.

I had Murray put a "distinguished tune" on my S&W Model 57 .41 Magnum several years ago when I had a factory 6" barrel installed on it at the same time.

I count myself very fortunate to live only a 10 min drive from their operation.

Also, a Dillon progressive set-up is on my "near future" list from these good folks.

I have a full house Charlton PPC gun - it's the tightest, smoothest and most accurate handgun I've ever handled, and even though I don't shoot PPC, there is no substitute for a gun that will shoot all X's at 25 yards, all day, free hand, double action. Huge ++++ recommendation.

I'm honestly surprised.

When I was trying to deal with them getting some replacement parts, not once did they return an email or phone call when they said they would, if at all.

I contacted Murray charleton Ent. Again after reading this thread. The gentleman I spoke to took some info and called me back the next day with some options. We came to an agreement and I have a new set of sights on the way. I am also going to send my no dash 686 to them for the M recall and some gun smithing.

I've never dealt with Murray but I have shot one of his PPC S&W M-10 bull barrel builds from another forum member. It was one of the smoothest DA only revolvers I've ever had the pleasure to try. If I was more into revolvers, I would definitely have him tune it!

I was at the Range today and my cylinder latch screw fell off and the latch flew off when I was shooting!! . Called them and had a new screw in the mail no charge within 24 hours !!!! A+++ service in my books
