Hello

A while ago I was given an "infraction" for asking what some guns were worth. I was not a member of the Equipment Exchange at the time. I am now a member of the Equipment Exchange so am I allowed to ask what a specific make and model of shotgun is worth or will that get me an infraction? I tried to Private Mail the Moderator who gave me the infraction to clarify but the system said that he/she did not accept Private Mail. At this time, I am looking to buy a specific gun, not sell one. I would buy it only via the equipment exchange. Thank you.

Why were you given an infraction for asking the value of a gun? All kinds of threads are started asking that same question for a variety of firearms....

I believe that they said because I was not a member of the Equipment Exchange, I was not allowed to ask the value of some guns ... I enjoy using this website so I don't want to get banned for again breaking some rule ... so I want to be sure that I can ask the value of a used gun I am thinking of buying and not get another infraction. I am now a member of the Equipment Exchange ...

Hate to say it, but ketch a given Mod on a bad day and a math lesson will happen.
Odd, they should stand up to bat and at least listen to your opinion as to why you
think it wasn't deserved.
Oh the chit going awn 'tween me ears on the last won I got me arse spanked fer.

I believe most of the pricing on EE is from the blue book plus 10-20% . I just looked at one a standard field model 12 3" 70% condition $1,175.00

Intedserve whats wrong with one infraction?
They generally expire in a few weeks time but, your still given access to learn the error of your ways ...meant to be a bit of humor.
There is no definitive answer to the values of guns that are posted in the EE.
Some buy low and sell high, some pay to much and try to recoup as much or as more as they paid, while some just like to tease and brag about their latest and coolest gun, just check out a local gun show and see what some may regard as silly over inflated prices.
They ( gun show sellers) sometimes just like to shoot the breeze and show of their wares.
I have three infractions over the course of being a member here and have yet to be sent to the corner for atime out and consider those as lessons learned.

The best way to obtain a selection of values is to 'google' the exact model in question and then search through the many answers that pop up. US prices are often higher than what you can do in Canada.

For the purposes of this thread I will attempt to address the OP's concerns.

You may ask generic questions in a discussion forum as to the value of a firearm.

It is generally frowned upon if you structure your question as if you are selling a particular firearm or campaigning one that is already for sale, though. That is what will usually get you a warning or infraction. Or at least get the thread locked +/or recycled.

All sales on this site should be confined to the Equipment Exchange.

I looked up your infraction. The explanation was clear.

You were not a member of the EE, so you listed a group of guns, asked what they were worth, and announced that you were selling them.

Offers to sell go in the EE.

If you want to discuss values, discuss values, do not offer the items for sale outside the EE.
