I recently bought a Remington 870 SuperSlug heavy barrel shotgun. I wasn't sure how far out it would shoot but gave it a try today. I put a Leupold shotgun/muzzleloader scope on it (3x9-40) and a Timney trigger kit. I had just standard rings on it at first but the scope was moving a bit so I upgraded the rings to weaver 4 bolt type.

I was shooting two slug guns today, one really short barrel (I think 16") with iron sights and this one (I think barrel is 25").

After setting up coarse adjustments and firing a few shots, I set the target out to 100 yards (measured with range finder) and shot a group, then I moved it back to 150 yards and shot another group. Overall, I was impressed with what this slug gun can do. I'm pretty sure it will shoot a lot further out than this as I hardly had to move my cross hairs up to the next BDC dot. I was using 3" Remington accutips.

I ran out of time and couldn't set the target out any further, but I know this gun will shoot farther than 150 yards.

Here are pics...

This is what I was shooting off of. It's freaking perfect, it automatically adjusts to get the most sunlight, so the sun is never in your eyes and if its rainging...who cares! it acts as an umbrella. And the concrete base is perfect for setting up the lead sled.

This one is with scoped slug gun at 100 Yards. The first shot was low, then overcompensated and shot high, then just a sweet 3 shot group.

This is with scoped slug gun at 150 Yards, say what you want, for me this is a sweet group with a shotgun

This is shot with the short rifled barrel slug gun that I use while going through the bush, and it has iron sights. It appears as though I might be pulling a bit to the right and high.

Wow, cool!
Never really pushed myself past 50 with it yet, now I have something to try to attain!
And that is the Best use for a solar panel, ever.
You have turned a hippy dippy (although economically and environmentally sound) thing into a giant shotgun sniper nest. I love it

Wow, very nice. It looks as if your short barrel slugger with IRONS is almost as good as your heavy with scope, you must have good eyesight. However, out at 150 you're still hitting the zone, very impressed. I've never heard of a Rem870 with a heavy barrel, when did they come out with this? Nicely done.

Sorry, the short barrel slugger was shot at 50 yards, lol, my eyesight isn't that great :)

The rem 870 super slugger came out maybe a year and a half ago. It has a 25" heavy fluted barrel which is pinned to the receiver for improved stability and accuracy and has the sure shot stock with it. It also comes with a weaver scope base installed and the rifling is uses is hexagonal apparently, I also put a Timney trigger upgrade kit in it. I guess that it is an option for shooting deer if you really don't like muzzle loaders....and I don't like muzzle loaders, so I guess that's why I bought it.
