Hey everyone. I just purchased a 597 and was wondering if I could easily mount a Strikefire II on it. I've never purchased, or mounted any type of optics on a gun before, so I really don't know anything about it haha.

Thanks!

You should be OK. Just make sure your rings don't pull "up" on the rail. There are some instances where guys have tightened their scope rings and its pulled / stripped the Remington rail. I put a DIP pic rail on mine:

Ahhh, a Torx man... Good to see people chucking Hex in favour of the second best fastener of all time.

Robertson, or we revoke your citizenship.

LOL! Or "squiare drive" as thre Americans call it, presumably because it somehow gets them around the annoying Canadian patent. It's certainly better than Phillips, except perh. in sheet-metal work, where the tendency of the bit to cam out once the screw is set is actually desirable on production lines.

But with all due respect I'd put Torx® over our beloved Robertson for demanding jobs, (Check out the GRK line of wood fasteners.)

And thanks for the Thomas Net article. I didn't know the Robertson goes back to 1908!

:)
