Lee universal 3 jaw chuck

I bought this hoping to hold cases in a drill so I could anneal and or polish the case. Problem is mine doesnt seem to have any 'clamping' force on the case. The case is loose when I tighten it by hand.

Is mine junk or are these normally junk? Wish I didn't loose my recept to wholesale sports..
 
Sounds to me like maybe you are using the wrong shell holder? Aren't there different shell holder pieces that thread to a common rear end that goes in your drill? That's how mine works and when tightened by hand will easily grab the case base by the rim. That or you just aren't threading in the base piece into the shell holder piece far enough to contact the base of the case?

The 3 jaw chuck doesn't use shell holders, it uses 3 jaws to grip the case.

I have a similar 3 jaw chuck on my Lee Zip Trim and it holds the case very securely. Check to make sure the jaws are fitting securely into the case rim groove and then tighten it down good.
