1 3/16"-16 TPI Tap (AR Receiver Buffer Tube Tap)

KBC tools
I apologize, if I was not very clear in my initial post, however a 1-3/16"-16 TPI Tap is specific for tapping threads for AR based rifles Buffer Tube Receivers (i.e. "M4") or any other Buffer Tube adapter (i.e. M14 Blackfeather RS).

So, unless I am missing something KBC Tools is not firearms specific business. If it was that easy to go pick-up this tap at a general machinery store I would not be asking this question on this forum.

In that case you should try KBC tools, page 104 in the catalog, part number 1-372-412, price 64.80$

Firstly, my apologies about my brash comment.

Secondly, thank you for the helpful, post. Sadly, at $87.48 (1-3/16-16), Brownells, has just received my order and currency.

it is a standard, but less common size

Once I downloaded the catalog, I could do a PDF search and saw that KBC has it listed. Though I did initially search using KBC's own search, unless one enters a specific page the tap or die does not come up.

Believe me, if CanAm had a catalog oriented order system you would not be getting my currency, in this day and age - though you have and will be getting more of it in the future.

Catalogs are fine for business-to-business (i.e. ordering 80 feet of 6061-T6 extrusion from Castle Metals), with dedicated buyers on staff, but for a consumer market that makes no sense, and it shows where they have their priorities, and where the bulk of their cash flows from - my purchase of a tap and a die would probably be their month-end round-off error. If they do care about the small consumer, then it is time for them to get out of the 1990's and get into the 21st century.

Interesting. Entered "1 3/16 tap" in KBC's own search option, scrolled through the results and there is was.
Having dealt with KBC, delivery is next day or second day. They do not fool around with getting product out the door.
Cheaper and faster. Oh well.

Thanks for the helpful reply. Unfortunately for me, I have entered more specific entry like: "1-3/16-16 TPI" and "1-3/16-16" and got the "There were no items found" page. I have painfully learned from my brashness, and again, my apologies for my post.

Edit: I'll see if Brownells turns out to be a better deal for the Tap and Die set - after shipping.
