Do I Need/Want a 378 Wby?.... PHOTOS UP

Got a spare kidney to sell for ammo? Runs $149.99 per 20 at Cabela's(On back order too.). $89.99 per 20 for brass. Dies will be a special order thing as well. Won't be easy to find at any time, anywhere, either.
Mind you, it's not a need, it's a want. "I want one." is the best reason to buy anything.
 
It can't be any worse than a rifle in its parent .505 Gibbs, and they sell those. A quick rebarrel on a CZ .505 Gibbs.........................


Recoil in foot-pounds with a 11 pound Chey-tac should be close to a 9.5 pound .458 Lott. I bet you could do it.

Well the ammo is no more expensive than 470 NE, or 416 Rigby and it would take a lot of shooting to catch up to the cost of the 23 project.............The cost doesn't scare me........... the recoil doesn't scare me............Now 'Looky scares me !!! ;);):):)
And who brought Gatehouse into this thread..........he'd never own a 378..........."The Bully" of the 375s
 
I always thought it was a silly cartridge, I think if I wanted more horsepower than something in the 375WBY/ H&H /NEW KING class then it's time to step up to a larger caliber.

Now you will buy it for sure ;)
 
Might be silly but I'd sure be interested to see what it would do with about a 320 gn Matrix RBT..............besides I have all the bigger calibers, 416, 458, 470, and of course the 50 BMG
 
It will be GH, it will be..........did the "I'll Take It" thing last night............now I gotta go to town and get a MO..........Not as easy as Whitehorse, just dart downtown and do a DD, all done and good, but not here only got 2 banks in town and it's 30 miles away..........It does cut down on the impulse buying though.........

You really should Kevan.........trophy room almost ready for my boys, should be all done by Xmas..........gun vault overflowing, lots to play with and fondle..........can probably even arrange some good Scotch..........Anytime my friend.
