No ATT needed to own and buy restricted if shipped to you correct? BC

i can back that up.
when you purchase a restricted you must show supporting documentation that you belong to a firing range before the CFO will clear the transfer of ownership.

i guess it makes sense.
in cananda you can only own restricted firearms to target shoot and to target shoot you need to go to an approved range.
so why would they allow you to take possession of a restricted firearm if you dont have the other stuff ya need for it.

i wonder what they would do if you argued that.
if you stated you dont want a LATT or a STATT because you are a collector or maybe holding a heirloom firearm until say your child became of age.

I think its BS and a BC only thing, because I bought my first handgun this year. I wanted to order online because all the online shopping carts would not let me continue to payment page without filling in a range or gun club in the slot. I called a local range that has a gun store, and they told me I do not need a to be a member to buy a restricted gun. I drove there and bought one on the spot, they had my ATT to bring it home within 4 days...I was still not a member of their range till 2 months after I had bought the pistol from them.

Ive had that hand gun sitting in my safe at home for 3 months now, as I am still waiting for my LATT so I can bring it to my range...And thats the new BS! Can get ATT to bring it home in 4 days, waiting 3weeks+ now for LATT to bring it to range...WTF! I have already bought a 2nd and 3rd pistol, the 2nd they got my ATT to bring it home in a few hours. I bought it Thurs night they called me Friday afternoon saying ATT came in....I just bought my 3rd online, its in the mail via Canpar LOL so a delivery guy will have position of it and 1000 rounds of ammo I ordered with it in a delivery truck going from Vancouver to me in Ontario, but I cant leave my house with it? lol

I just dont get the logic behind this, I can buy a handgun the gun shop can get a ATT so that I can bring it home within a few hours, but it takes 3weeks+ to mail out the LATT to be able to bring it to a range? Its a piece of paper! Can they not just print it out and mail/email/fax it to me?

Question for you guys this is for Ontario, and my range applied for my LATT for me as soon as I passed the range course and prob shoots. Apparently....So is there any way I can call in and ask for the status of the LATT? I ask them and they just tell me I gotta wait.

They emailed it to me when I asked for an LTATT for the AR I bought a month ago. Try calling them

Thanks! This is some real BS, they have nothing, 3 weeks later Im waiting for nothing, the range/club has not even submitted my application. No phone number just Email and no response from club guy that is in charge of that stuff

I cant even apply for it myself, the gun club has to do it for me...

Damn, that sucks. Good luck with getting that resolved. I should have said explicitly that my situation was in Manitoba. It seems like the processes of Manitoba and Ontario are the complete opposites of each other.

Contact your range and ask if the request has been made, ranges are run by volunteers and we also have lives to live. Sometimes balls get dropped. What range are you with? Hopefully it's not me your waiting on LOL

Yeah thanks anyways for the info, at least you gave me the idea to call in and ask. I was leaving my house a while ago and saw the mail man, I turned around in hopes that he was carrying my LATT lol....Now I can stop doing that as I know its not even in the process yet...

Yeah I Emailed him again there is no phone number to call, I called the range also and they said they will put a note for him, but other then that only way to contact is via Email. So I Emailed him again just now, and I even said in the Email that I don't want to sound like an ass or really impatient. lol I just don't want to name the range/club on here because in the course they mentioned they have a strict policy about talking crap about the club or people that run it online...In the past people have done that and been kicked out. So I dont want to make it seem like I am slamming them, this is probably normal waiting time

This whole getting into firearms is a waiting game, still getting used to that LOL....Just want to start shooting my own stuff ASAP, Ive been to the range 2 times already to shoot the club guns, but to shoot club guns you have to shoot their ammo at range prices. In 2 those 2 visits I have spent $400 on ammo, and its about $50 in gas for me there and back...$400 if I buy bulk ammo I can shoot 3X that amount

You could always shoot a PM, but no need too....It's definitely not us :)
We also insist on shooting club bought factory ammo in our club guns, we acquire our ammo for less than retail from a LGS...we also pass those savings along to our range members buy not gouging them with "range or Club" pricing....I think that's pretty disgusting, I hate to see profiteering in the community. Don't get me wrong, we do make some money off the ammo sales, but just about everything we sell is the same or a few cents less than you would pay in a gun shop, NOT more.

If you don't mind shoot me a PM with your range info, I am looking for another to shoot rifle calibers at as currently mine is not approved for rifle calibers. Preferably Im looking for something indoor and even better indoor/outdoor so I can shoot all year round..Problem is anything close to me is 1 year waiting period for membership class, or pretty far drive from Mississauga...
