Purchased online about 10 days or so ago. As ya'll know the importation of these and parts was banned over 20 years ago down here. NIB ones can still be found for about 650.00 and up. Ended up paying about 450.00 including shipping and ffl transfer fee. The pistol was in better shape than it appeared in the advertised pics. I put a new set of Colt checkered (non-pony emblem) rubber grips on it and Wolff 16 lb. recoil spring, firing pin spring, and a new sear spring from Cylinder & Slide. Totally stripped, cleaned, and lubed it. Shoots just fine for a defensive weapon. Have no idea as to its history. The factory barrel is spotless and does not appear to be all that used. It came w/ an idiot scratch and another small scratch on the front passenger side. I have several 1911s and this one is now my primary edc. For some reason I don't have permission to post attachments, therefore, no pics.

Congrats! I have three, two of which have been done over by 'smiths. One I keep as my Bush Gun. They are good guns as they come and can be made to be great guns. Wilson Combat will customize your pistol while they won't touch Kimbers. You likely know what they sell for new up here and the different models we get so I won't bore you with that. Enjoy your gun it will serve you well for a very long time.

Take Care

Thanks. I'm only too aware how much they don't cost up there.:ang

Had a SAM. It was ok but preferred my Rocks and others over it. I guess with most things in life it's hit or miss. I've been very fortunate in that none of my 1911s or for that matter, none of my weapons have been disappointing.

A few pics. My field expedient backyard 20 meter handgun range. Step out the back door and have at it. Was using the pasture which was nearly a 90 second walk to my range area. This works just fine. I have it marked off in 10, 15, and 20 meters.

An old bare balls government model. Maybe they were built better back when that one was made. his was my Norinco, the day before the front sight fell out, and just after the barrel link pin came out during cleaning.

This is my SAM Thunderbolt .45, great out of the box, and never a problem.

Nice! I have been in love with the .45 since I first saw Thomas Magnum wielding one! :D So, my first pistol was my Norc .45 (tuned from new) and it runs incredibly well!

Gawd, I wish I could shoot out my back door! :)

Heck, I thought with all that open space ya'll have up there that pretty much everyone who so desired fired their weapons "out their door". :p It is a nice option to have.

We've got this odd breed of politicians that are apparently against anyone having any fun at all..... :D

Folks slag the Norcs all the time. But even the most dedicated Norc hater will admit in a small quiet voice that the frame and slide are great starting points for a custom build. Which is what I understand the main reason for buying them down your way is as well.

Yes, I will admit they are great starting points for a custom build, because you have no choice, because you can't enjoy them the way they are. If you are going to do a custom build, you may as well buy a used one, and if you are lucky, the original owner has already fixed some of the problems, but got fed up with it, and is unloading it for cheap. Lol.
