Just got back from a Whitetail/moose hunt in North-Eastern BC.

Took a nice WT doe through the lungs with my 700 Classic in 7x57 [140 Accubond] at 75 yards....dead in her tracks.

Next morning a legal immature bull moose happened to reveal himself...he tried to run away, but the 308 Norma Mag spoke, and he made about 4 more steps before collapsing. [180 Scirocco II] Shot was 110 yards, angling away.

All in all...it went well. Freezer will be full of tasty steaks, roasts and burger. :)

Pics below.

Regards, Dave.

Egads what is all that white stuff around your dinner?

That Norma must pack an awful punch? All you got left is the head!? Next time aim for the head!! :p

Good One, Spank!! :) :)

The Scirocco did it's job. Angled from LR of the ribcage, through the liver and up through the opposite side lung. No meat loss at all.
As I said in the original post, he was going to "get outta dodge" but I cut his run quite short with ole "Thumper".

Cheers, Dave.

way to go. Is that moose still in velvet?

Yes, there is still some velvet hanging on to those antlers. I have seen this on several occasions over the years with these immature bulls.

Just a little update: Recovered that Scirocco 180 from that moose. It is a perfect mushroom, and retains 132 grains of weight [ about 73%]....pretty decent performance, IMHO.

It would have hit the moose at just under 3000 fps.

Regards, Dave.
