Norinco M305 mag issues?

Do you have any issues on the AIA mags since they don't have the hole for the Op Spring Giude Rod? I.e. do the seat properly? Do they fall out?

Good questions but I don't have any experience with them. Will have to hear from those who use these mags….could be a deal breaker for me if they fall out!

I just purchased one a week ago. There was no way it would snap in at the range yesterday. Compared to the 5 round Springfield mag and the KCI mag was visibly wider. Dealer refunded my money today but I still need another 5 round mag. One that actually works this time.

got an AIA and 2 norcs. Have used the AIA mags in the norcs regularly instead of the long 5/20's, never ever had a problem with them not locking in and staying in.

Look closely at the tab on the rear of the mag where the mag release seats as you pop it in the gun.

Clearance the TOP of these tabs on the mag with a file, a little at at time, then try it in the rifle. This slight extra clearance should seat the mag a lot more easily. I'm not sure about the feeding issues but it could be that it's not fully seated in the magwell - that's my guess.

I've not tried KCI but I had to do this on my Checkmates.

Apologies, but is it not the BOTTOM of the tab on the mag which needs to be filed down a bit to allow it to easily catch the mag release?
 
Go to THIS site and measure your mags against the dimensional drawings.
I have bought a few Norinco mags for my M305 and Springfield M1A National Match and have had zero issues.
I bought a KMC and it was brought back to the store that sold it to me.
The whole top of the mag was out of spec by over 0.020"
 
I have attempted to fix the mags already......several times. Since the feed lips are the issue, I can bend them so they work and am able to fire 10 rounds out if them before they become loose again. Short of trying to weld a brace onto them, I am open to suggestions.
 
After comparing the Norinco mag to the KCI mags, using the usable Norinco mag as my reference, the KCI mags are between - .20mm to + .83mm on the 4 places i meassured with a digital caliper. I am thinking about the AIA mags as a replacement. Unfortunately I ordered them online from a place on the other side of the country, so i can't return them.
 
I had a similar promblem with some plain Greg mags that I bought. I just filed down the BOTTOM side of the magazine tab until it engaged with the mag retainer/ release. Just a little bit at a time until it catches.
 
A buddy of mine bought a few aftermarket mags (I think they were KCI), and the would barely even FIT in the magwell. Like, bruised my palm trying to get them STARTED... Junk. Yet my Norc mags (2 5/20 rounders, and 1 5/5 rounder) work beatifully. +1 for Norinco.
