This looks rather good and premiers Nov.1

Saw something curious on the TV preview today so I rewinded it, paused it, and snapped a picture with my tablet.

Anything seem odd to you guys?

T.V. license I guess ? It must be easier, and cheaper, to find a bunch of SMLEs than to find some Gew 98s or Kar 98s for that matter.

Since I do not get this channel, I will have to wait for it to pop up on youtube sadly but whoever is able to watch it, do post back about it.

Lots of TV shows use Lee-Enfields for everybody. A bolt action is a bolt action when you have no clue. And the people at the History Channel have no clue. No campaign hats in the trenches of W.W. I either.
Those 8 Huns would be mowed down in seconds as well.

Enfields arent being used by everybody in this show. Just used in some scenes incorrectly.

I watched some of this last night. The most mind numbingly face palmy scene for me (so far) was the stock footage of what looked to be a Soviet T72 tank firing it's main gun .... apparently during the invasion of France as the Nazis were getting past the Maginot line!!

I tried to watch an episode last night and gave up. It was almost amateurish in presentation and the material was grade school level. It's an embarrassment.

Maybe that's the point- To somebody in the know it's cartoonish, but there are a lot of people not up on their history. Probably a lot of the production staff of these such Cole's notes versions of history.

Anyone notice the British gas masks? Not the hoods but the grey one with eye pieces. Not WWI rather 1970s Soviet civilian gas masks.

Still I am enjoying the the series so far.

They should have stuck to using contemporary film and photos. There are enough of them around. Having lame and corny actors portray the leading personalities on top of modern/misplaced imagery detracts from the overall quality. It is quite shallow in places, more like entertainment than real history. But that's the modern media for you- all buffed up and dumbed down. The benchmark for this concerning WW2 was the BBC's "World at War" series which was produced in 1973-74.
