sig 226 22lr????

They are very nice and work great...if you keep them clean and feed them good quality ammo. One thing I don't like is the lack of last round hold open on the slide. If you plan to get a P226 in a center fire caliber it's actually cheaper to buy the Sig226 Classic 22 then get the center fire barrel and slide kit later.
IRC, you can get different followers to have the slide hold open on last shot. But I don't think it actually locked back the slide. I. Think it just gets jammed up on the follower to hold it open.

Ya thats the way I was thinking about going for my first handgun, Get the 226 classic to learn the gun and cheap practice then get the conversion to 9mm
just started lokin at the 226 and have been wondering if I should get a 22 pistol. Can you direct me to more info on this swap and info on price. Ie is it a gun smith job or just parts swap and quick and easy. The idea o 2 guns in one and cheaper then a stright up 226 is interesting to say the least.

I've got the caliber change kit. All you need to do is remove the slide and put on the .22 one. It only takes a few seconds.
That said, it really didn't like the American Eagle ammo I was putting through it, got all sorts of failure to feeds, stovepipes, and failures to extract. Haven't gotten around to trying any other ammo types.

CCI mini mag or CCI AR TACTICAL 22lr if you can find it. Stick to 40 grain solid point high velocity ammo and you'll be fine. My Glock 17 Advantage Arms conversion kit likes Federal Bulk 22 ammo too.
