Hi all,

I am looking to get the second 1911 from Canada Ammo and was looking at the regular unmarked Government model vs the Police blued or two-tone.

Are there any major differences between the two models to justify the price difference?

also, are they the same size? The Police one looks longer.

Thank you

The latest Sport/Police whatever you want to call them have many MIM parts, the GOV as far as I know does not and is still all forged and milled.
I had one of the new "chromium" models and was fairly disappointed with the fit/finish and that all the small stuff was MIM.

I vote for both as well. police model looks nice, but both should be good shoot. for the price, just get both. and if want to save money on ammo, get the NP29 chambered in 9mm as well.

i have both but my 'Police Model' is from a couple years back and they are realllllly REALLLLLY crappy guns.
with what was said above about better sites and trigger must be a new add on because both the Police ones i have are just plan GI with chomed bottoms.
and did i mention they are crappy?
cause they are..... crappy.
unless you like to shoot a gun that feels like you have a hand full of sand in it stay away from them!

now, the unmarked GI one is nice.
not Kimber or Sam or Ruger nice, but for a Norc its nice.
and its easier to tune up being all metal parts and such.

think i might have a pic of both the ones your asking about side by side, ill go look.

oh ya i just went and had a look, the new Police ones are totally different.
you can see from the pic online that they have higher sites (non-GI), Target hammers, target triggers, ambi safety, front serrations, mags are definitely different the the normal norc all metal cruddy ones too.

Save a few bucks up and buy at least a SAM gun, if you just want something to shoot. The bells and whistles don't wow me - its a bit cargo cultish when the basic finish of the gun is lacking.

If you buy the police with tax you will be into it for around $400. $200 ($250) more if timed right will get you a well cared for SR1911 (EE) that you will end up keeping. Some people will keep their norcs but many more land on the EE.

Honestly, i really like my norc commander, sold the government model....I actually shoot better with this one..i know, I know...i like the hi-viz front sight, and love the 'American legend' grips....

I have the police model purchased in May of this year. My first 1911. I'm happy with it. I like the looks and the adjustable sites. Accuracy is better than the M39 Smith I used to shoot.
About 400 rounds of Wolf and my own reloads through it. Will only feed true RN bullets. I have an RCBS 230 RN mould which has a little bit of a square shoulder. Have had some feed problems. Lyman 452374 works fine.

Which version of the Norc 1911A1 to get?

Personal preference only...... I like the unmarked, plane jane, Norinco 1911A1 model over all other Norc versions of the full size 1911 pistol. Clean lines, no front slide serrations, no boxy sites, no extended do-dads, etc. Just a 1911A1 as it would've appeared in the 1924 - 1945 era.

I like my 1911 government, it's unmarked, as I hate the made in china crap on my guns. It's cheap at 292 Shipped to my door via Canada ammo. Free magazine, 2 magazines (non paper kind) and a cool pen. 100 dollars cheaper, buy a new trigger, and grips for it and youve almost got a better police model.

Fitment of parts of mine is pretty good. It was real dirty when you get it, and there are sharp edges, but for the price I have zero complaints. I will more than likely buy a second one and modify them both as twins. That will be my 4th 1911, I also have a colt and a Remington.
