Im having a tough time deciding which optic to put on a .223 of mine. Ive narrowed it down to these 2. Both seem to get good reviews on the net and do realize the Nightforce has an edge on clarity and reticle selection but is it a $700 edge? I plan on throwing this rifle on a Tavor and a bolt .223, both have a pic rail and the scope will be on a quick detach mount. Vortex has the edge in price, and quick warranty, alos has bright reticle and zero stop. Nightforce is has the edge in clarity and track record. What would you optic guru pick.
I guess I should say that Im not taking this scope to war...Its not gonna be beat around. Most targets (coyotes) will be shot at 200 yards max.

No one ever regrets buying a Nightforce. The same cant be said for Vortex.

If its going to be shared as the primary optic between two guns spend the money and buy the NXS. Get a quality mount that has a repeatable return to zero and you're set. Buying quality only hurts once. Re-sale if you choose to upgrade or seel later on will be much high on the Nightforce as well.

My 2 cents.

Bang for the buck I love vortex. Plus the vip warranty is quite amazing. With that said I haven't used a nightforce but only own vortex products. I did a lot of research before purchasing mine and I love them. I think there might be a vortex pst 2.5-10 on the EE right now. Not sure if it was the 32mm or 44mm objective though.

I'm a dedicated Vortex guy. I own a 2.5-10x44, and can tell you from a few visits with one that the new 32mm model is way nicer than mine!

Marcoman's right: no one ever went wrong buying a Nightforce. But I'd rather get myself a stellar scope and still have $700 to put into another gun!

Your best bet is to find a retailer that has both, and look through both, and decide what you like there.

P.S. Whichever optic you get, make sure you get a throwlever for it too! On my Tavor, nothing makes a magnified optic better than being able to easily adjust power on the fly.

If it's going to be swapped between rifles then I would suggest to spent the extra on the NF. The zero stop on the vortex is a bit of a joke, it's not a positive stop and you will have to carry around shims. This is coming from a guy that has two pst 2.5-10x44 I would get the Nightforce and be done with it.

No dealers around me have any Nightforce on the shelf...Vortex they do. Id like to see a comparison in glass as well.

If your looking for NF give Peter at Hirsch Precision(site sponsor) a call. Great service.

As far as the glass goes the vortex is quite good, almost as good as the NF to my eyes. If it was just a glass comparison I couldn't justify the NF but the NF is better in all other aspects thou. IMO.

Yes I have been in contact with him...nice guy. But like I mentioned Im only concerned with glass clarity. Im not worried about zero stops or that you can trust it to go to Iraq with.

I've found Vortex optics to consistently perform under their price range. I've found NF to be well worth the investment. I wouldn't even look at a PST, the NF will outperform it and not sit on the EE for months if you decide to sell it.

My Vortex 2.5-10x32 sold very quick ;)

It is a great scope. Whether the NF or not is $700 better, I'd be hard pressed to believe it given the requirements.
