Any benefit, I used one once , a doe decoy, and a buck wandered into the field but i don't think he even cared about the doe. Any one use them or any one see any benefit. At the local hunt/fish store they have all kinds cheapo paper cut outs too blow up ones (no jokes a guy gets lonely sometimes) to the expensive super life like ones that seem like a real pain to carry into the woods. What do you think?

I think decoys are a waste of money, I've got my deer every year by seek and destroy style. Never saw the need to use them, I think a lot of stuff marketed in the outdoors world isn't practical and aesthetically lures in outdoorsmen.

Several years ago, my neighbor and I put a styrofoam "target doe" on a little point on an alfalfa field. Nothing showed the evening we put it out. We pinned a white rag to her tail, soaked in doe in heat pee. The next day as we approached, we noticed she had fallen over. On closer inspection, we realized a buck had raped her. She was badly damaged an poked full of antler holes. I wish I had seen "The Action". Never used one since.

I think they also "Lure" in the hunters.....all the new gadgets always get me.( especially turkey calls, i must have a pillow case full)...i am a sucker.

I have used a few different deer decoys over the past few years, along with a boatload of different calls and have never found them to work.At least where I hunt, they are pretty much useless. As stated above, the only thing those decoys lure in are suckers!

They work in higher dejsity areas. In MB this year I would doubt they'd do kuch. Much prefer doe over buck and have had success with the full plastic and tge silhouette Montana ones

I'd be more worried about being in the hot-seat when someone doesn't take the time to ID it as a decoy and starts blasting in your direction.

I used to use them. I've had a buck move in right up to it but for the most part they don't attract but they can distract which can be useful in archery season. As for rifle season avoid them all together Too many hunters with poor eyes and itchy trigger fingers

All good advice, but I am on a stand and the decoy would be 200 yards away so not worried to much about other hunters

It's not the hunters but the flying bullets when they are shooting at your decoy. Walking down from your stand and going to fetch your decoy puts you in a dangerous situation.

Used a full bodied plastic version… I think at times it could work extremely well, especially during rut. After you are done hunting with it for you morning or afternoon, put it away though or hide it. Too many times it was left out over night to be picking up parts the next morning from a nocturnal $#!T kicking. Tried during the late ontario archery season and it did not work well, spooked every deer that came by.

Put out a fabric buck and a doe set in November. Had a little buck come in to about 60 yards before he turned tail and ran. The ravens fly over and start freaking out when they see the deer are only 1/8 of an inch thick it's good for a laugh.

They are a good means to direct gun fire away from your home in the country during this time if year...

Don't most of them fancy TV hunters use em in sets like 3-4 does and a small buck to try to lure in a solo big guy?

I've uset the miss November before, had it in a bean field and had the big 12 I was after come out and stare at it from 80 yards for 5 mins before continuing on his way

The day before the gun hunt too
..only had the bow

The neighbour uses one regularly in archery season. I was quizzing him about it and he told me he always sets it up with the head facing him to limit the odds of some poacher firing directly at him. In my neck of the woods blasting wildly out the truck window onto private property seems a popular hobby. Especially with all the cuts made to the Game Branch over the past while. You wouldn't catch me using one anywhere that wasn't extremely limited access to others.
