Acquired a NO1 MKIII

Very nice Ishapore! Any full wood Lee Enfield, and a lot of "sportered" ones are smart looking rifles. Don't be discouraged by nitpickers. I have some real nice LE's, but always appreciate the not-so-nice as well.

You have a fine example of a rifle made on the opposite side of the world. :)

Obviously your "Don't be discouraged by nitpickers" comment is directed at me, now if you're going to make comments such as this, please be sure you know what you are talking about, the op rifle has been sanded to within an inch of its life, this can be seen at the rear of the rear handguard which has been undermined, by the nosecap where it sits proud & the top handguard over hangs, the rear sling swivel boss should be in-letted not sitting proud of the butt & the butt where it meets up with the buttsocket has been rounded off leaving the buttsocket sitting proud.
Sure its a nice looking rifle but its far from being a " fine example of a rifle made on the opposite side of the world."

Irregardless when in the last 75 years someone sanded it, it's still a nice complete rifle :) It will fetch more than my desporterized non matching anything no 1 mkiii bsa.

I completely agree with you, the op is happy with it & it does look nice, i just take exception to people who call others "nitpickers" for being straight up & not PC just to avoid upsetting someone.

I understand, especially in the Milsurp forum, that any rifle someone posts will be scrutinized with many "buts" and "excepts" when asking for opinions. A lot of milsurps owners only want accurate, period correct unmolested examples.
Certain rifles I desire that way as well. But this rifle wasn't claimed to be anything but a good deal for a rifle that I have always desired. Not intended as a show piece or safe queen. No deception offered by the seller either.
Stocks are attainable, if I was even remotely concerned with it being sanded and finished or not, that is. I guess pointing out flaws just isnt the kind of gun owner I am tnough. No big deal. I take no offense, but as stated above, I'm fully aware that is a facet of the Milsurp collecting/owning world.
Glad I was able to share it with those that appreciated it, regardlessly.

& i appreciate you sharing it with us, i do have a tendency to tell it how i see it.
Your rifle is a nice looking rifle, not my thing as i do like them original but that does not stop me from liking your rifle.

Don't be sure that my opinion was directed at anybody in particular. It wasn't. I only wanted to encourage the OP. I have tried to be positive in my posts, but I touched a nerve. I apologize to those who took it personally.

I do happen to know what I am talking about, though, and I still maintain that the OP's rifle is a nice one.

My comment about the sanding in my first post is the only comment that could even be called close to a nitpick that had been posted on this thread till your comment.
The op asked "I researched a bit leading up to the purchase. Let me know what you think. Thanks,"
I replied "Looks very nice but has been heavily sanded & refinished."
Is this the wrong answer?
