I think that stock has been refinished anyway. Looks like it might be tung oil. Good for protection. Not so good for refinishing. Won't allow any stain to penetrate.
Kind of pricey things too. Marstar wanted $25 for one. Friggin' things are on the U.S. restricted for export list too. Gun show, maybe.
Oh and Speer 110 grain HP's with IMR4227 shoots well out of my Plainfield. Hunted ground hogs with it for years until it turned evil.

I got about 600rds of .30 carbine. I'm set for awhile.

Saw some on ebay.ca repos for around 40$. I got a offer of one slightly cracked, not fully thru. I maybe able to inject some glue and seal it.

** but last M XX something I ordered got shipped to me nicely shattered in 3 pieces from CBSA.

I should be getting it in late this week or early mid. Then be hitting the interweb for dis-assembly manuals and full cleaning.

DO NOT try and remove gas piston unless you have the proper wrench you will wreck it! and 99% of the time you never have to remove them! stripping is very easy a few tips the recoil spring guide can be used to disassemble/reassemble the trigger group!

Thanks, I guess I'll just buy the wrench :D

Gas piston is not and never was a user removable thing. Proper wrench or not. Piston nuts tend to break then require replacement. A $9.50 part at Marstar. Out of stock, of course. Just leave it in. Gas piston wasn't removed for cleaning anyway. The rest of the thing isn't really a big deal.
15 meg manual is on www.biggerhammer.net/manuals/.

Nice Carbine. By all means do not remove the gas piston unless there is a need to do so (fouled gas port in barrel or frozen piston which prevents semi-auto function). The piston nut is punch peened to keep it in place after being installed. A proper military piston nut wrench is required for removal. When cleaning a carbine do so with the sights down to prevent too much solvent or oil getting into the gas cylinder.
