A Kriss or a Tavor for a NR toy....

I don't have one myself but I was considering building one after seeing some of the aftermarket KRIS pictures. I though up the picture just for a example of what can be done to an ugly duckling :)

Tavor....hands down.
 
It's a hard choice but I would probably go with the Vector. I had a non restricted version for a few months and it ate all ammo I fed it (use real Glock mags) and once I figured out the holdover I could ring the gong at 200 yards.
I've only shot 4 Tavor's but they just don't do anything for me, I find that very strange because I really like bullpups and was happy with my RFB (only sold it to pay for another toy) and my DTA SRS is never leaving my collection.
45 is similar in price to 223 but can be handloaded for less. I don't think you reload so that doesn't really factor in much.
I liked my Vector but found that it didn't get used enough to justify how much money was tied up in it. If you have a specific use in mind then you likely won't run into that problem.
I say Vector, put a nice EoTech on it and everyone who gets to play will have fun with it.
Plus, the money you save in purchase price will buy a lot of 45auto.

The recoil impulse on it feels a little funny at first but it definitely doesn't have much kick so the younger ones won't have problems with it.
 
I don't own either one so I cant with good conscience recommend them. However if you want a NR 45 get an HK USC/UMP and a NR conversion from Dlask arms for $450. Best pistol carbine out there

45ACP usually cost around 10 cents more per round than .223 REM.

Take a look at Krisstalk forums. Lots of owners share their experience there.
Plus Kriss have a list of recommanded ammo that will work in the Kriss reliably. And the tavor does not have a list of recommended ammo.

last case of 45 i bought was just under 400, brass cased blazer. I believe the norc is cheaper or any of the aluminum stuff. works out about the same now with the increased price of 223
 
I have not shot either but have handled both.

A long barreled kriss doesn't interest me much. I might buy a tavor some day.

The kriss was completely designed as a small full auto shooting a hard hitting 45 .

If I could own that I would reverse my decision.

Of what we can actually own the tavor wins out to me.

I just sold mine but I did like it better than the Vector.
I have mags for sale on the EE if you get one :)

223 might be cheaper if you compare brand name 45auto to Norinco 5.56 but if you compare it to decent ammo then it's a little cheaper. Decent bulk 223 is about $0.50/round and 45auto is just slightly less. It isn't really enough to worry about other than the difference in price between the Tavor and the Vector buys a lot of ammo if you go with the Vector.

Like I said it's a hard decision, they are both good rifles but for what he is asking to use it for I would suggest the Vector over the Tavor if it will be used by younger shooters, for those too young to support the rifle themselves the Kriss is also much easier to shoot off the bench.
 
Admittedly, I have no experience with the Kriss. I do however have experience with pistol caliber carbines and have gotten away from all of them (except a Rossi M94 in .454 Casull. That gun is amazing.) I do have a Tavor though and I have to say if you're looking for something that is non-restricted, cool and reliable then it's probably the best choice out there. :cheers:
